We are seeking an Assistant General Counsel, reporting to the Senior Associate General Counsel, Corporate, with deep experience in commercial contracting, including SaaS, hosted services, and vendor agreements, to support a fast-paced, growing FinTech business. This role is highly contract- and transactional-focused and is ideal for an attorney who can hit the ground running with minimal oversight. The role requires close partnership with sales, marketing, and other business teams to support revenue-generating transactions and vendor engagements efficiently while effectively and proactively managing and mitigating legal, regulatory, operational and reputational risk.

Responsibilities

  • Support a broad portfolio of transactional work, including SaaS agreements, IT and cybersecurity services agreements, vendor and supplier agreements, insurance-related agreements, procurement contracts, SOWs and Order Forms, amendments, and other related transactional documents.
  • Provide legal support for sales-driven transactions, including drafting and preparing customer contracts, reviewing and responding to counterparty redlines, and partnering closely with sales and operations teams to support deal execution.
  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to internal stakeholders, offering practical, business-oriented guidance and solutions in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Lead contract negotiations with counsel, customers, vendors, and partners, balancing risk management with commercial objectives.
  • Support marketing and go-to-market initiatives, including review of customer-facing marketing and advertising materials.
  • Manage multiple matters with often competing priorities simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines and timelines.
  • Develop and maintain standardized templates, playbooks, and clause libraries to drive consistency and accelerate contracting timelines.
  • Serve as a shared resource across the legal team, cross-collaborating with colleagues across practice areas and cross-training on different legal functions to provide flexible, well-rounded support where needed.
  • Evaluate legal risks associated with new products, programs, and business opportunities.
  • Perform other duties and provide additional legal support as needed.

Desired Attributes

  • Pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and business-minded.
  • Comfortable operating in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively with sales, marketing, and business teams.
  • Confident negotiator capable of handling customer-facing interactions.
  • Organized, responsive, and able to prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high volume environment, while providing quality legal advice and support.
  • Strong attention to detail and impeccable drafting skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and commitment to timely, solution-oriented legal support.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to build relationships and influence across functions.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a regulatory industry, preferably related to insurance or other financial services.
  • Experience or familiarity with insurance (property casualty, life and health) products or other financial products and services.
  • Experience reviewing or advising on marketing or advertising materials.
  • Background in technology, cybersecurity, or professional services.
  • Experience improving contract processes or supporting scaling sales organizations.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as the FTC Act, CAN-SPAM Act, TCPA, TSR.

Education and Experience

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5–8 years of legal experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating SaaS, technology, and vendor agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting sales and transactional workflows in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of contract risk allocation, including limitation of liability, indemnification, and data protection provisions.
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously with minimal supervision and oversight, while exercising sound judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, analytical, and issue-spotting skills.
  • Enthusiasm for embracing AI and technology-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, consistency, and business support.
