The Assistant Director of Nursing will plan and coordinate nursing services with those of the medical and administrative systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Responsible for managing, directing, and supervising the nursing department

· Evaluates employee performance, completes evaluations, handles corrective action, and performance improvement planning

· Delegates and supervises the development and implementation of the resident assessment (MDS) and care plan, participating as necessary

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practice in the facility

· Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the DON as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the nursing service department

· Assists in developing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents’ total regimen of care

· Participates in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator or DON

· Participates in developing, implementing and updating the resident’s written discharge plan

· Schedules daily rounds to observe residents and to determine if nursing needs are being met

· Participates in investigations of possible abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of assets

· Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Thorough understanding of nursing management strategies

· Possesses knowledge of the nurse practice act as well as State and Federal regulations

· Demonstrates ability to work and communicate effectively and efficiently with residents and families, various departments, and other personnel

Education and Experience:

· Possesses State of Wisconsin nursing license

· At least one years of supervisory experience in a nursing environment

Work Environment:

· May be exposed to infectious diseases and hazardous substances

· Mechanical hazards related to equipment common to care
