About the Position
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid assists the Director and Associate Director of Financial Aid in the overall administration of financial aid. The Assistant Director responds to the needs of students, parents, and college faculty and administrators regarding federal, state, and private aid programs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage all outside scholarships that require college certification
- Perform needs analysis and financial aid packages for a predetermined portion of student population
- Ensure that files meet regulatory, policy, and procedural compliance for Federal, State, private, and Haverford aid programs
- Handle weekly disbursement authorization batches of the Haverford Grant
- Evaluate and confirm fifty percent of estimated income awards prior to spring disbursement
- Determine the allocation of all endowed funds under Stewardship
- Complete annual W. W. Smith report
- Handle weekly refund lists from Student Accounts
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director or Director
Line of Report: The Assistant Director of Financial Aid reports to the Director of Financial Aid.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two years’ experience in financial aid
Professional Competencies
- Experience with college financial aid software systems, preferably PowerFAIDS and PeopleSoft
- Thorough knowledge of Federal, state, and other agencies’ regulations, policies, and required procedures
- Experience with Microsoft office products and systems
- Excellent communications and computer skills
- Good organizational abilities

- Experience with Institutional Methodology
