Japan Product Administration is a core pillar of our Asset Management business in Japan.
As a Vice President in Japan Product Administration, you will be the accountable owner for the fund governance and day-to-day administration of our Japan fund ranges, ensuring they adhere to offering documentation and local regulatory obligations. Your responsibilities will encompass fund governance, valuations, protecting the funds from asset dilution, and managing fund data. You will be the key interface between local stakeholders and global Product Administration, translating global best practices into Japan-specific execution and safeguarding outcomes for Japanese investors.
This is a high-visibility leadership role, partnering closely with Investments, Sales, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Control Managers to deliver resilient product governance and high-quality client service. This role requires a confident self-starter with a 'can-do' attitude, strong social and communication skills, and effective stakeholder management and your ability to participate in local and regional agendas will be essential in contributing to the broader success of our asset management initiatives.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead the governance model for Japanese unit trust funds, aligning key processes and governance committees covering dividend review and distribution, fund risk rating review, NAV/fair valuation, and use of anti-dilution tools.
- Serve as the escalation point for fund policy-related matters, collaborating with multiple internal and external teams to ensure necessary compliance.
- Lead local governance committees to oversee valuation, fund administration, regulatory, and liquidity risk management items.
- Represent Funds Administration during internal and external audits/testing.
- Manage anti-dilution tools to protect the interests of unit holders under the broader firm-wide Liquidity Risk Management Framework.
- Drive continuous improvement of product governance processes and operating models in Japan, aligning with global standards while addressing local nuances.
- Lead Japan fund initiatives and projects (regulatory change, market practice evolution, local and global programs), including planning, coordination, communication, and delivery of business solutions.
- Escalate appropriate matters to management and committees as appropriate
- Produce or coordinate ad hoc analysis and ongoing metrics.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in the financial industry, ideally with exposure to asset management product management, governance, or business management or fund accounting.
- Solid understanding of products and business management functions in asset management and/or related financial services industries.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; confident engaging senior stakeholders across Investments, Sales, Operations, Legal/Compliance, Risk, and Control Managers.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity, shifting priorities, timelines, and demands.
- Ability to partner effectively across different businesses and functional areas.
- Collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Fluent in written and spoken Japanese and English.
