Alternatives Fund Controlling Specialist (Vice President)
Overview:
The Alternatives Fund Controlling VP will oversee the financial and operational controls for Luxembourg alternatives funds, including both regulated and unregulated fund structures. The role requires deep expertise in alternative products and strategies, alternative fund valuations and oversight, Luxembourg fund structures, and industry practices and regulations.
Reporting to: JPMAME Product Administration - Alternatives Oversight Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and document oversight controls on NAVs for alternative funds, including managing day-to-day engagement and service reviews with external fund administrators.
- Review and challenge valuation documentation and recommendations, ensuring thorough analysis and accuracy, and manage comprehensive formalization of valuation committees and related reporting to governance bodies.
- Execute core and ancillary oversight and governance responsibilities, with ongoing collaboration with JPM Alternatives business groups, valuation support teams, fund administrators, consultants, and depositaries, among others.
- Own periodic reviews and updates to valuation and NAV oversight policies, procedures and governance charters, service level and operating model documentation and ensure comprehensive implementation.
- Manage end-to-end internal control reviews and external fund audits in coordination with fund service providers, auditors, etc.
- Respond to internal and external queries, including regulatory or audit follow-ups regarding fund valuation, NAV monitoring, and other fund controlling matters.
- Report to management committees, fund boards, and other governance bodies.
- Lead automation and technology initiatives to enhance oversight and controlling processes.
- Implement team requirements for new product launches and onboarding by reviewing fund documents, agreements, and designing and implementing control models and policies for new funds in collaboration with investment desks, product development and legal teams, among others.
- Monitor regulatory filings under the team's remit and support other JPM functions as required for compliance and risk management matters, reporting to regulators and tax authorities, among others.
- Mentor and guide junior team members.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 8 years' experience in fund controlling, fund administration, audit, or oversight of Luxembourg alternative funds.
- Proven track record in regulated and unregulated fund structures and investments, valuation methodologies, industry practices and guidelines and regulatory requirements, in particular UCI laws, AIFMD and related CSSF circulars, and regulatory developments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information for senior leadership and advanced capability in preparing executive-level management reporting and documentation to support and facilitate strategic decision-making.
- Experience leading technology and automation projects in fund oversight.
- Ability to manage external service providers and complex and global stakeholder relationships.

- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations clearly to governance bodies and executive stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills, high sense of responsibility, and dependability and proficiency in managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment .
- High accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously.
- Positive attitude to uphold robust controls and compliance standards across fund oversight processes.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; other languages a plus.
