Job Description

Fuel Art Directors report to the Sr. Art Director & Creative Director while working alongside the Client Services and Technology Teams. They are responsible for developing creative concepts and approaches with the project team, developing original design concepts as well as oversee project design all the way through execution. They are also responsible for presenting work to executive level client stakeholders and representing FUEL's visual design process and integrity at all stages of an engagement. Art Directors are also responsible for providing art direction and leadership to designers working on their project teams, scoping design phases of projects accurately and efficiently as well as attend pitches and industry events as required.

  • Work closely with clients; listening to them and articulating their situation, goals, and requirements 
  • Help produce presentation materials for new opportunities 
  • Strong ability to scope visual work accurately and in‐line with time and cost constraints 
  • Collaboratively establish the creative direction for projects 
  •  Work with Design Director & Creative Director to establish optimal processes to ensure quality production process between team members 
  • Monitor day‐to‐day activities of team members and ensure work is progressing as planned. Work with team members and actively be involved in the work 
  •  Ability to work across several projects with one or more Art Directors or as the primary Art Director on a small‐medium scale engagements 
  • Work with producers to help plan and prioritize all deliverables and resources working across project(s) based on scope of work and project goals 
  • Exceed client expectations, ensure delivery of the highest quality service, and solicit and act on client feedback 
  • Bring a solid understanding of designing intuitive site functionality, interaction, user interfaces, and navigation 
  •  Lead the training/mentoring of Design and Illustration teams on FUEL production methodologies and best practices as required 
  • Experiment with new tools and techniques to improve our work 
  • Cultivate an understanding of industry trends and share your insights with the studio

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing rich interactive experiences for the web and mobile 
  • Experience leading small to medium sized teams 
  • Strong mentorship and leadership skills‐ ability to lead a team, manage and mentor junior team members 
  • Track record leading projects; overseeing planning, concept development, design and implementation; assigning tasks and monitoring progress 
  • Proficient with the latest Adobe Products (Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, InDesign CC)
