As Art Director, you own the visual craft and creative judgment that Orbit's automation cannot produce on its own. You set creative direction, lead the human-led steps of the production workflow (concepting, typography, art direction, and final refinement), and are accountable for the brand fidelity and executional quality of everything that carries a client's name. You are client-facing: presenting work, defending creative rationale, and building trust with senior marketing and brand stakeholders at global enterprise brands.
You are a maker and a director. You have strong personal design craft, a trained eye for composition and type, and the ability to run AI-generated output through expert correction so it meets enterprise standards. You use AI tools as a core part of how you work, as leverage, not as a substitute for judgment.

What You Will Do
Creative Direction & Visual Systems
• Own creative direction. Set the visual territory for campaigns: define the creative concept, art direction, and design system that a campaign lives within, and ensure every asset produced against it holds together.
• Direct from the brief. Interpret Orbit's pre-populated briefs and translate business objectives into clear, on-brand, commercially accountable creative, validating and adjusting the brief where creative judgment is required.
• Develop and maintain design systems, brand kits, templates, and component libraries (Canva brand kits, Figma modular systems, Affinity/InDesign editorial templates) so downstream production scales without drifting off-brand.
Hands-On Design & Production Craft
• Make the work. Produce and direct client-ready design across digital and print: brand campaigns, HTML email, IAB display, social static and carousels, sales and marketing decks, landing pages, and long-form
editorial (white papers, reports).
• Lead typography. Own human-led typography: type hierarchy, scale, tracking, and legibility across render contexts (email preview panes, the full IAB size cascade, mobile feed, print). Typography is brand defining and stays under human control.
• Direct and refine AI output. Direct AI image generation and correct it. Run Adobe Firefly (and Firefly Custom Models for on-brand consistency), then use Photoshop Generative Fill / Generative Expand and Illustrator Generative Vector to fix AI-tells, remove hallucinated elements, integrate brand environments, and reframe compositions.
• Own quality. Apply an AI-tells checklist and a brand-adherence review to every asset before release: composition, spatial hierarchy, color fidelity, type integrity, and production readiness.
Client Partnership & Stakeholder Management
• Present and defend the work. Serve as a creative point of contact for assigned accounts: present work, walk stakeholders through creative rationale, and manage revision cycles with professionalism.
• Engage senior stakeholders. Communicate confidently with senior client contacts, including VP- and Csuite-level marketing and brand stakeholders, on creative direction and executional decisions.
• Balance strict brand-standards compliance with creative ambition, working within guardrails without producing generic output.
AI-Augmented Execution
• Be the craft layer. Serve as the human judgment and craft layer over Orbit's automated pipeline: the signal-to-brief-to-generation flow is AI-led, but concept, composition, typography, art direction, and final
sign-off are yours.
• Work AI-native. Use AI tools (Adobe Firefly and the Adobe Creative connector, Claude, Canva, Midjourney for concepting only) as a standard part of your production workflow for ideation, generation, and iteration.
• Contribute to the refinement of Orbit's creative workflows, prompting standards, brand-token systems, and creative governance so quality scales as volume grows.
Craft Leadership
How You Will Work
This role operates inside an AI-native delivery model. You are a skilled creative professional who uses AI to extend your capacity while providing the art direction, design craft, brand instinct, and client-relationship
management that AI cannot replace.
You will work closely with Creative Strategy, copywriters and AEO specialists, and client-facing program leads. Work is reviewed and approved in collaboration with client stakeholders. Speed, quality, and defensibility matter equally: we expect enterprise-grade creative delivered at the pace of an AI-augmented team. What You Bring
Required
• 7+ years of art direction or senior design experience, ideally in B2B, agency, or embedded team environments serving enterprise brands.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating hands-on creative production and art direction across digital and print. Creative direction or brief-writing alone is not sufficient. The work must show personal craft.
• Demonstrated command of typography, composition, color, and brand systems, with the ability to hold quality across multiple client accounts and formats.
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma; working proficiency in Canva for brand-kit-driven production.
• Practical, established experience using generative AI in professional design work, including directing and correcting AI-generated imagery to enterprise standards.
• Proven client-facing experience: presenting creative, defending rationale, and navigating senior stakeholder feedback.
• Accuracy is paramount. Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to proof your own work and catch errors before they ship. Every asset carries a client's name.
• Brand fidelity. Firm command of brand voice and the ability to interpret and apply brand guidelines faithfully across formats, accounts, and edge cases the guidelines do not spell out.
• Self-directed and collaborative. A self-starter who works well autonomously and within a team, able to set direction on ambiguous briefs while collaborating cleanly with strategy, copy, and program leads.
• Discipline across type, color accuracy, asset naming, version control, and production readiness.
Preferred
•Motion design or video experience (After Effects, Premiere Pro, or equivalent), a meaningful differentiator in this role.
• Experience with Adobe Firefly Custom Models, the Adobe Creative connector, or comparable brandtuned generative pipelines.
• Affinity suite (Designer, Photo, Publisher) as an alternative production toolset.
• Print production and pre-press control (InDesign paragraph/character styles, baseline grid, ICC profiles, PDF/X export) for long-form editorial and client-distributed documents.
• Experience mentoring or leading junior creative talent.
Required Tool Proficiency
Candidates must have demonstrated, hands-on experience with the following tools. Proficiency will be assessed during the interview process.
•Adobe Creative Cloud
Primary production suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, including
Generative Fill, Generative Expand, and Generative Vector for AI-tells
correction and brand-environment integration.
•Adobe Firefly
Enterprise-default image generation, commercially IP-safe, with Firefly
Custom Models trained on brand assets; accessed directly and via the
Claude Adobe Creative connector for Orbit-integrated generation.
•Figma
Modular design systems, wireframes, HTML email and landing-page
layouts, responsive variants, and Dev Mode handoff.
•Canva
Brand-kit enforcement, template population, and Magic Resize for multiformat, scaled production.
•Claude (Anthropic)
Concepting support, copy refinement, and orchestration of Orbit creative
workflows.
Preferred: Affinity (Designer, Photo, Publisher)
Alternative vector, raster, and long-form layout / pre-press production.
Preferred: Midjourney
Concept and moodboard exploration only (not final, client-distributed
assets).
