As the Art & Design Manager, for Avatars, you will own the end-to-end design of Avatars on the platform; from the workflows for developers to create Avatars in Studio to how players customize their Avatars in experiences. You’ll also support highly skilled 3D artists who are both producing models and consulting on product work. You’ll work collaboratively with product managers, researchers, data scientists, and engineers to define workflows to be intuitive and delightful.

You'll be actively involved in defining the UX and art strategy, future vision, goals, success metrics, roadmap, and sprint commitments. You'll optimize resources across product teams and manage our experienced design and 3D art team. You'll guide the team, nurture talent and lead with transparency to foster a collaborative culture of design excellence.

You Will:

  • Create outstanding user experiences for a diverse global audience through seamless cross-product journeys, engaging learning experiences, and delightful interactions that align with our mission.
  • Develop design and 3D art talent on the team to improve on the quality and professional growth for the team.
  • Present design strategy to executive leaders.
  • Manage end-to-end feature design with an ability to translate abstract ideas into viable product features.
  • Work with Product and Engineering to represent the design team, facilitate design discussions, and give concise feedback on planning and product direction.
  • Partner with the Engineering team to provide a high-quality implementation of delightful product experiences.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Design leadership team to evolve design processes and foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration and innovation.

You Have:

  • 7+ years of professional work experience in design leadership with a Bachelor's degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Ergonomics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Practiced in designing for technical domains, such as productivity tools, developer tools or designing for large-scale platforms, and complex software applications.
  • Managed and will grow a team of product designers by setting crisp goals, evolving our design practice, building team culture, and a leader who guides the team to the best possible solution
  • Lead cross-functional teams and have actively worked to improve the people, product, and process on your team and beyond.
  • Advocated for holistic and connected user experiences.
  • The ability to craft a story and communicate well with engineers, product managers and executives.
  • Curiousity about product goals from both a company's and user's perspective, promoting a learning culture both within the Product Design team and the larger Roblox organization.
  • Proficient experience in the development lifecycle, can navigate sophisticated engineering environments and identify dependencies across feature areas..

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$214,700$278,800 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
