Lead the sales story for our downtown hotels

Downtown is where business travelers, wedding parties, conventions, and weekend explorers all meet. We’re looking for an Area Director of Sales who loves that energy, someone who can walk into a room, build a real relationship, and turn it into business that fills rooms, ballrooms, and restaurants across our downtown portfolio.

In this role, you’ll set the sales direction for multiple hotels, lead and grow a talented team, and partner closely with our General Managers and operations leaders. You’ll be the person who knows the market, knows the clients, and knows exactly how each of our hotels can win.

What you’ll do

Set the strategy. You’ll build and lead sales plans for rooms, meetings, catering, and food and beverage across your hotels. You’ll keep a close eye on market trends, the competition, and what our guests are looking for, then turn those insights into goals your team can rally around.

Build relationships that last. Corporate accounts, event planners, travel partners, and local organizations will know you by name. You’ll lead site tours, give presentations that show off what our hotels do best, and negotiate group, event, and catering contracts that work for the client and for us.

Grow revenue. You’ll drive occupancy and average daily rate through smart pricing and close partnership with revenue management. You’ll also spot the extra opportunities: the upgraded catering package, the added room block, the dinner that becomes a tradition.

Lead and develop your team. You’ll hire, coach, and support sales managers, coordinators, and support staff. You’ll give honest feedback, celebrate wins, and create a team culture where people collaborate, think creatively, and grow their careers.

Get our name out there. You’ll work with our marketing team on campaigns, materials, and online content. You’ll also represent Shamin Hotels at industry events, trade shows, and community gatherings downtown.

Own the numbers. You’ll build and manage sales budgets and forecasts, track expenses and incentives, and make sure every dollar spent is working toward results.

Why Shamin Hotels?

Benefits that take care of you. Along with competitive pay, full-time associates receive health, dental, vision, accident, and short- and long-term disability insurance. We also offer pet insurance, gym membership discounts, paid time off, paid holidays, and a 401(k) with company match. Our Shamin Perks program includes discounts on tickets, rental cars, attractions, footwear, and stays at our branded hotels.

Room to grow. With more than 70 hotels and more on the way, there’s always a next step, whether that’s in operations, corporate leadership, or hotel development. We’re proud of how often we promote from within.

A family story. In 1978, P.C. Amin and his brother-in-law B.N. Shah bought a bankrupt hotel in Lumberton, North Carolina. They combined their names, Shah and Amin, to create Shamin Hotels. Today we’re the largest hotel owner and operator in Virginia, and we’re still family-owned and operated out of Central Virginia. Learn more at shaminhotels.com.
