Area Director of Operations
Southeast US | Remote, 50–75% travel | Reports to the Executive Vice President
AHMG is growing. New communities are joining our portfolio, most of them in Florida, and more are on the way. We need an operator who can walk into a community, read the P&L and the last survey in the same afternoon, and leave the Executive Director stronger than they found them.
ABOUT AHMG
American Healthcare Management Group, LP (AHMG) is a senior living management company and the operator behind Elevate Senior Living. We manage assisted living and memory care communities across Florida and the Southeast. Our specialty is turnarounds and new openings: we take communities that are under-performing or just getting started and build them into places residents are proud to live and staff want to stay. We are small on purpose. The people making decisions know the residents by name, and our area leaders work directly with the executive team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Area Director of Operations is the senior operator in the field. You will lead the Executive Directors of the communities in your area and answer for three things in each one: quality of care and operations, financial performance against budget, and state compliance. You report to the Executive Vice President and work closely with our Founder & CEO on growth. Your portfolio starts in Florida and will grow as AHMG adds communities.
What success looks like after year one:
- Every community is survey-ready, with no repeat or uncorrected deficiencies.
- Each Executive Director runs a monthly P&L review against budget, and labor and controllable expenses are on target.
- Occupancy and revenue per occupied unit (RevPOR) are moving toward budget in every community.
- You have built a bench: at least one leader in your area is ready to step up to Executive Director.
- New communities have moved onto AHMG systems, standards and reporting on schedule.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead and develop Executive Directors. Run weekly 1:1s and our L-10 meeting rhythm, set clear goals, coach in the building, and make the call on hiring, development and exits.
- Own P&L performance. Review monthly results against budget with each ED, manage labor (hours per occupied unit, overtime, agency), control expenses, and build the annual budgets with the EVP.
- Keep every community in compliance. Lead mock surveys and audits of resident records, service plans, medication management, staff training and background screening files. Make sure incidents are reported on time and plans of correction are completed and sustained. In Florida, that means working fluently within AHCA rules (Chapter 429, F.S., and Rule 59A-36, F.A.C.).
- Grow census and revenue. Partner with each Director of Sales & Marketing on occupancy goals and the Welcome Home CRM pipeline, and make sure care-level assessments are accurate and billed correctly.
- Oversee care quality. Work through each Director of Healthcare to monitor clinical outcomes, falls, hospital transfers and family satisfaction, and run quarterly quality improvement meetings.
- Open and transition communities. Lead the operational onboarding of newly managed and newly built communities, from licensing and staffing to systems and lease-up.
- Be the escalation point. Provide on-call support to community leaders and handle resident, family and ownership concerns that need a senior operator.
WHAT’S HARD ABOUT THIS JOB
You will be on the road more than half the time. Some of our communities are turnarounds, so you will walk into staffing gaps, survey history and budget misses that you did not create but are now responsible for fixing. We are a lean team, which means you will build the spreadsheet, run the mock survey and cover the shift meeting yourself when needed. If that sounds energizing, we want to talk to you.

- Florida Assisted Living Facility Core Training completed, or willingness to complete it within 90 days of hire.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel 50–75% across the Southeast.
