As we expand our presence nationwide, we're seeking an experienced architect to play a pivotal role in designing innovative spaces and helping lead and shape the future of our New York office.

We’re looking for an experienced architect to join our growing College & University market in New York City, bringing passion, creativity and experience to projects that enhance higher education environments. In this role, you'll lead marketing efforts for RDG’s College & University market in the northeast. Beyond your design responsibilities, you'll serve as a mentor within the office, helping nurture the team's growth and the office itself. This dual focus on client relationships and office development offers a unique opportunity to influence both our projects and our practice at a fundamental level.

Essential Job Functions

  • Regional higher education market leader for the development and maintenance of client relationships in the Northeast Region.
  • Collaboration with RDG’s College & University and Health Science Education team, as well as other market leaders 
  • Collaboration with multiple disciplines, clients and the public 
  • Essential involvement in helping to recruit and build the New York, college & university and health science education teams 
  • Serve as mentor and resource for internal team members
  • Produce presentations that communicate our design knowledge, inspire our clients and effectively communicate design solutions

Requirements

  • Possess strong leadership, written and verbal skills to instill confidence and trust in our clients and staff
  • Serve as a resource for our New York office, helping to grow RDG's brand and market share
  • Critical thinking collaborator with excellent soft skills, relationship and executing strengths
  • Sound design communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated history of building long-term relationships with team members and clients
  • Able to develop successful strategies for helping to complete work on time and budget

Education & Experience

  • 15+ years of professional work experience with experience specifically designing for higher education environments 
  • Licensed New York architect or the ability to acquire certification and licensure required
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Past project management experience in planning and developing projects from the conceptual design phase through construction documentation
