What is needed for this job as our Lead Aquatics Specialist:
- 18+ years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1+ years of experience in pool management or aquatics administration preferred
- 1+ years of experience teaching swim lessons preferred
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required or ability to obtain certification upon hire (training provided)
The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Lead Aquatics Specialist:
- Ensure the safety and active supervision of all pool participants by maintaining a secure and welcoming aquatic environment
- Provide professional lifeguard coverage, continuously monitoring the pool area and responding promptly and effectively to emergencies
- Teach group and private swim lessons, emphasizing water safety, skill development, confidence-building, and individualized instruction
- Deliver exceptional customer service to participants, families, and community members
- Monitor pool operations to ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and procedures
- Assist with the daily operation, organization, and administration of aquatic programs and activities
- Support the overall success of the aquatics program through teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to participant safety and engagement

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree or related field (Youth Development, Teaching, Psychology, Sports Management, Physical Education)
- 1+ years of swim lesson experience
- 1+ years of experience in staff supervision
- Knowledge of current YMCA or Red Cross preschool, youth and adult curriculum, trends and teaching design
- Certification in CPR/AED for Adults, Children and Infants and First Aid (possesses or obtains within 1 month)
- Lifeguard certification (possesses or obtains within 1 month)
- Obtain YMCA/USA coaching certification within 3 months
