The Role

As an Applied Scientist at Summation, you will be at the forefront of developing and advancing AI-driven solutions for business planning and analytics. You will explore and build innovative models and methods to accelerate analytical workflows for our customers. This role is well-suited for a creative, hands-on problem solver who is passionate about transforming how organizations operate through practical AI applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Rapid Prototyping: Develop prototypes to quickly test the feasibility of AI-driven solutions for business planning challenges, focusing on practical applications that bring immediate value to users.

• Experimentation and Iteration: Conduct experiments to validate AI models, iterating on solutions based on empirical results and user feedback, ensuring the development of impactful and user-friendly tools.

• Collaboration with Product and Deployment Teams: Partner with engineers, product managers, and solution leads to transition proof-of-concepts into scalable, real-world applications for our customers.

• Focus on End-User Impact: Keep the end-user experience at the forefront, designing models and solutions that are practical, useful, and enhance user workflows.

Qualifications

• Degree in Operations Research, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in applied AI or OR, preferably with a focus on decision support systems.

• Strong knowledge of machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and experience with LLMs, predictive modeling, and optimization techniques.

• Experience working with financial data systems, business planning, or analytics platforms is a plus.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a passion for tackling complex, data-rich problems.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
