About Us
Reframe Systems is on a mission to build net-zero carbon housing for all, at massive scale. To achieve our mission, we need to make net-zero carbon housing more affordable and we are re-imagining how housing is designed and built. Our modular building platform and highly-automated production system will drive down cost, delivery time, and embodied carbon for ADUs and multifamily housing. We are setting up our first software driven factory in the greater Boston area (Andover, MA), and have a roadmap to scale our presence nationally. We are disrupting assembly line manufacturing for housing production and are backed by leading VC firms in the industrial and construction space.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking an Applied Scientist with a specialization in the cross-section between Deep Learning/Large Language Models and the physical world. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in research and development within the fields of machine vision, robotics, human interfaces, and/or real-world process optimization in manufacturing or fulfillment. Candidates should be eager to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of industry-veteran roboticists, architects and engineers to tackle hard-problems designing, prototyping, and testing a new class of manipulation workcells. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of software defined automation for industrialized construction.
Responsibilities
-
Design, develop, and maintain full-stack production models for manual augmented and robotics workcells. Lead implementation of algorithm developments in real-world applications spanning machine-vision and motion planning.
-
Take a leadership role in guiding the direction of research projects, making decisions on experimental design, data collection, and analysis. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning and language processing, incorporating new techniques and methodologies into our research and development processes.
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions into our products and services, ensuring seamless functionality and user experience.
-
Validate hypothesis through data-driven experimentation and prototyping. Document, summarize, and advocate findings to peers. Execute on new ideas, carrying them from proof-of-concept to operations.
Basic Qualifications
-
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in machine learning research, such as Python or TensorFlow. Experience with large language models, including but not limited to GPT-3, BERT, or similar architectures. Familiarity with deep learning frameworks and tools beyond the basic requirements.
-
Experience delivering the highest level of performance and reliability in a production environment. Experience creating tools to continuously aggregate data sets, manage retraining, etc.
-
Experience working in robotics and machine vision problems. Experience with OpenCV, PCL, and AI-based pipelines for feature detection, segmentation, etc.
-
Proficiency in professional engineering best practices; code reviews, code standards, source management, CI/CD, testing, and full software life cycle.
-
Strong communication skills, ability to work well in a team environment. Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently.
Bonus
-
Proficiency using Git and operating in a Linux environment. Experience developing using Docker and cloud services (AWS) is a plus.
-
Preferred PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Math, or related STEM degree. Proven track record of impactful research in machine learning, demonstrated through publications, projects, or contributions to the field.

What We Do
We are on a mission to unlock climate-friendly housing as a basic human right. To achieve that mission, we're developing low-cost robotic microfactories to build and retrofit net-zero homes 2x faster, 2x cheaper and with 10x lower carbon.
