As an Associate Applied AI/ML Scientist in the Global Banking Applied AI/ML team, you will use advanced quantitative methods to address complex business problems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement AI and machine learning solutions. Your work will help drive innovation, optimize processes, and create data products that support the firm's commercial goals. You will be part of a collaborative, inclusive environment that values continuous learning and experimentation.
Job Responsibilities:

• Research and develop innovative quantitative and machine learning solutions
• Translate business requirements into AI/ML specifications
• Design experiments and implement algorithms for diverse business use cases
• Validate results and productionise scalable, trustworthy solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy machine learning services
• Integrate solutions with strategic systems across the firm
• Engage with firm-wide machine learning communities for knowledge sharing
• Communicate technical concepts and results to technical and business audiences

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering)
• Strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and optimization
• Hands-on experience with machine learning and AI methodologies
• Ability to design experiments, training procedures, and performance evaluations aligned with business goals
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with scientific computing and Python libraries (e.g., SciPy, Pandas, NumPy)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic, inclusive environment

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

• Experience with natural language processing, graph analytics, or time series modelling
• Familiarity with deploying machine learning solutions in production environments
• Experience collaborating with product, engineering, business, control, legal, or risk teams
• Participation in knowledge sharing within machine learning communities
• Demonstrated curiosity and motivation to tackle complex analytical problems
