Forging the Future of Maritime
We are not just upgrading existing vessels; we are architecting the operating model for the next generation of global maritime assets. This is a role for a techno-economic operator who can translate complex engineering concepts into high-stakes commercial wins.
The Applications Engineer serves as the critical link between our pioneering technology, our commercial team, and the customer's P&L. You will be deployed with the Fleetzero sales team to execute foundational customer discovery sessions to precisely map our technology to the customer's ecosystem. You are expected to deliver technical and economic clarity that leaves no room for doubt.
Your Direct Responsibilities
This is an integrated role spanning pre-sale diligence and post-sale technical translation:
• Initial System Architecture: Partner with Fleetzero engineers to rapidly develop basic one-line diagrams and vessel designs. These designs will inform both the customer and the detailed design activities.
• Proposal Engineering: Own the technical scope for RFIs/RFPs; draft SoWs, assumptions, and proposal BoMs with engineering and finance.
• Techno-Economic Guidance: You will guide and inform the corporate finance team in developing the sophisticated techno-economic models that articulate the customer-specific value proposition. This requires a strong conceptual understanding of modeling fuel consumption, project economics, and CONOPS know-how.
• Commercial Insight: Provide situational awareness of the deal cycle to the Fleetzero sales team, so they know exactly when and how to ramp analysis efforts to accelerate the deal.
• Project Translation: Post-sale, act as the definitive translator between the sales team and project teams. The scope of projects ranges from the electrification of existing ship owners' vessels to fully unmanned assets.
Non-Negotiable Requirements (must have min. 2 of 3)
We are seeking a rare combination of technical depth, commercial insight, and domain mastery.
1. Maritime and Design Fluency
• Demonstrable knowledge of ship operations and design.
• Must be conversationally fluent in talking with ship owners about their business.
2. Advanced Systems Expertise
• Deep familiarity with Electrification or Autonomy.
• Ability to craft a basic one-line diagram of various vessel systems (basic system architecture design).
• The ability to understand and quantify the downstream impacts of design choices from both a technical and economic perspective.
• A mandate to stay on top of the latest technology trends from 3rd party integrators.
• A creative mind to understand the "art of what's possible" with electrification and autonomy, and the humility to ask the right questions.
3. High-Value B2B Experience
• Proven B2B sales experience.
• Experience sitting across the table from teams of people and being comfortable communicating in a way that will be effective.
Note on Finance: A background or competence in corporate finance is a plus, but your primary value is the domain knowledge that fuels the analysis.
All roles are expected to include intermittent or occasional travel as the business needs.
