InSyS's Center for Advanced Imaging (CAI) is expanding in all areas providing innovative low light imaging, space qualified imaging, lidar imaging, and commercial OEM products. CAI is searching for an Application Engineer to help expand the Low Light CMOS Cameras Business. The candidate will be the critical technical bridge between the internal engineering team and the domestic/international customers and prime contractors doing government business. The candidate’s primary responsibilities span technical, client-facing and the product development domains. The candidate will have opportunity to learn low light camera operation, create system demonstrations, perform systems bring up, troubleshooting and debugging, write application notes, interface with clients, and participate in product optimization. The objective is to position SRI for continued growth in CMOS-based low light imaging technologies and products deployed in the commercial, government and military markets.


The position will work onsite at our Princeton, NJ office.

Responsibilities

Customer Integration and “Bring-up” Support

  • Support customers in initial setup, system testing and hardware evaluation
  • Perform debugging and troubleshooting, camera performance tuning and optimization in customers’ systems

Proof of Concepts and Technical Sales

  • Build customer evaluation kits, write Python scripts, set up test benches to prove camera capability
  • Recommend right combination of sensors, lens and software algorithm based on customer needs

Interfacing between Customers and the Engineering Team

  • Write application notes and technical guides for customers explaining how to best implement cameras
  • Collect customer feedback and field test results
  • Support continued development and optimization for the low light products
Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Due to government contract requirements candidates must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • 2+ years’ experience with electronics design or testing in a team setting.
  • 2+ years’ interacting with customers in technical product support or technical sales role.
  • Proficiency with Linux OS and Kernel use, including debugging Linux system setup and software installation
  • Familiarity with Python, C, and C++, including common open-source processing libraries like NumPy, OpenCV, Torch, etc.
  • Experience with technical writing including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, styling, formatting
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time if necessary
  • Good communication skills
  • Work both independently and in a team setting

Desired skills:

  • RMA troubleshooting and debugging
  • Military and night vision industry cameras
  • Nvidia device and embedded processor use
  • Familiarity with MIPI, I2C, SPI, GMSL, USB, Serial Port
  • Familiarity with VS Code, Python debuggers

The salary range is: $81,522-$108,018.. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program. Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
