The Applications Developer 1 position belongs to the Applications Development group, producing software solutions to support Engineering Technology Services and clients in the College of Engineering.
This position includes customer interaction. Ensures all university and college policies are followed. Ensures all university, federal and state mandated programs are implemented and maintained. Manages and meets all compliance and reporting requirements of the university, college, departments, centers and/or units, as needed; adheres to the ITIL best practice framework. Applies industry knowledge and a thorough understanding of software development principles, technical capabilities, and best practices to execute tasks. Collaborates with other technical areas as required by the organization.
Key responsibilities: Develops clean, efficient code based on user needs and technical specs. Translates requirements into functional applications. Assist with support of IT Service Management platform. Builds and maintains both front-end and back-end components, ensuring performance and reliability. Creates and executes test plans to identify and fix issues pre-deployment. Documents development processes clearly for future reference. Participate in code reviews to uphold quality and share knowledge. Troubleshoots complex issues and implements solutions. Works with cross-functional teams for cohesive development. Stays current with industry trends and integrate relevant tools. Continuously seek ways to improve processes and software quality.
Additional Information: This position may work extended hours and needs to be available to address urgent issues outside of normal business hours, if required.
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum Required Experience: 0 years of relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications: MVC and REST APIs (like Ruby on Rails), Ruby, JavaScript, Python, Relational DB, Agentic AI, ServiceNow
The target hiring range for this job profile is $55,700/$72,700/$89,700. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
