Summary:
As an Application Support Engineer, a typical day involves acting as a software detective by proactively monitoring and investigating issues across various critical business systems. This role requires dynamic problem-solving to identify root causes and implement effective solutions, ensuring the smooth operation of multiple interconnected components. The position demands continuous engagement with system performance and stability, often requiring quick thinking and adaptability to maintain business continuity and support organizational objectives.
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Dollar Universe Operations
Design, modify, and maintain Uprocs, Sessions, and Tasks (Design & Monitoring modes).
Manage daily batch execution, reruns, bypass/delete actions, dependency handling, and cleanup.
Troubleshoot job failures, time overruns, dependency gaps, and abnormal terminations.
Manage session trees, calendars, triggers, and execution sequencing.
Ensure all changes are executed via approved incident/change tickets.
2. Advanced Troubleshooting & RCA
Perform root cause analysis using Dollar Universe logs (E00/E01), execution history, and dependency graphs.
Resolve issues using environment specific knowledge of nodes, applications, and integrations.
Proactively identify recurring patterns and recommend scheduling improvements.
3. CFT / GIFT / MTS2
Support end to end file transfer flows initiated from Dollar Universe.
Analyze CFT/MTS2 failures, IDFs, gateway issues, and GIFT portal statuses.
Decide when to disable/enable Dollar Universe triggers to avoid repeated failures.
Coordinate with PGA / AMS / application teams for validation, resend, or functional confirmation.
4. Scripting & OS Awareness
Work with standard Unix/Linux shell scripts executed via Uprocs.
Identify script level issues (parameters, environment variables, execution context).
Escalate or coordinate script changes following governance standards.
Professional & Technical Skills:
Technical
Strong hands on experience with Dollar Universe (Uprocs, Sessions, Monitoring, Design).
Practical knowledge of CFT / GIFT / MTS2 integrations.
Unix/Linux environment and shell scripting awareness.
Operational
Experience in business critical batch environments.
Confident handling incidents, changes, and problem management.
Behavioral
Acts as a go to SME for scheduling and file transfers.
Structured, risk aware, and governance aligned.
Strong communication with onshore/offshore and external teams.
Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in ControlM Administration.
