Summary: As an Application Support Engineer, you will act as software detectives, providing a dynamic service that identifies and resolves issues within various components of critical business systems. Your typical day will involve collaborating with team members to troubleshoot complex problems, ensuring system reliability, and implementing solutions that enhance operational efficiency. You will engage with different stakeholders to understand their needs and provide timely support, contributing to the overall success of the organization. Roles & Responsibilities: - Expected to perform independently and become an SME. -Install, configure, and manage Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE) in physical and virtual environments. -Perform system upgrades, kernel tuning, patch management, and OS hardening. -Manage user accounts, file systems, and permissions in secure multi-user environments. -Support virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, KVM, Hyper-V). -Perform server provisioning, hardware troubleshooting, and network/storage configuration. -Manage DNS, DHCP, NTP, LDAP, and centralized logging (Syslog, ELK). -Deploy and manage Linux-based workloads in public and hybrid cloud environments. -Automate cloud infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. -Support cloud-native tools and services (e.g., EC2, S3, Azure VMs, IAM, GCE). -Develop and maintain infrastructure automation scripts using Bash, Python, or PowerShell. -Use configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible). -Ensure systems adhere to internal security policies and industry standards (e.g., CIS, NIST). -Implement and maintain firewall rules, SELinux/AppArmor, encryption, and patching. -Participate in audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation plans. -Use tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch to monitor infrastructure health. -Troubleshoot system performance issues, log errors, and bottlenecks. -Optimize system resources and contribute to capacity planning. -Work cross-functionally with networking, security, DevOps, and application teams. -Document system configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and disaster recovery runbooks.
