Job Details
Purpose of the Role:
The Application Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality support to end-users and ensuring that applications effectively contribute to business processes. The role involves not only technical support but also deep involvement in the roadmap of software applications, anticipating future needs and innovations within the organization. The Appl specialist acts as a technical product owner, ensuring that nothing is developed without the necessary coordination. They are also responsible for knowledge sharing and documentation, ensuring that all applications comply with security, privacy, and sustainability regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaboration with Stakeholders
  • Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into functional specifications.
  • Align with business stakeholders on short-term as well as long-term priorities and focus areas and collaborate with IT colleagues over these plans
  • Collaborate with IT colleagues, both locally and internationally, to develop project plans for delivering requested functionalities.
  • Ensure stakeholders follow IT processes and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Communicate timely and clearly with stakeholders through relevant channels (Office 365, ITSM tools, Jira, Keyedin, etc.).

Configuration of Software Applications
  • Configure software applications based on user requirements, focusing on process, security, privacy, future-proofing, and reusability.
  • Design and implement solutions based on standards and uniform practices within Cencora.

Technical Support
  • Support users and the management organization with issues, questions, and bottlenecks. Resolve incidents and document solutions.
  • Identify areas for system improvement and advise on necessary adjustments and upgrades.
  • Implement a proactive testing policy, conduct system and integration tests, and support user acceptance testing.

Project Management
  • Manage small projects related to the implementation or improvement of software applications, ensuring timely delivery of project tasks and milestones.
  • Ensure the delivery of changes, including validation by process owners.
  • Align business and IT efforts, making stakeholders aware of their responsibilities and the importance of their actions in the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure that delivery of changes encompasses not only technical implementation but also related aspects such as documentation, operational planning, and adherence to Cencora's standard project steps eg. (financial) estimations, documentation and PTR (Plan to Run activities).

Optimization of Business Processes
  • Advise management on desired and possible changes within the focus areas, analyze situations, and propose solutions.
  • Lead or participate in IT projects, providing expert insights and advice on project setup and execution.
  • Contribute expertise to renewal and implementation projects within the organization.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for collaborating with stakeholders and providing training, in both English and Dutch.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills to analyze complex issues and propose innovative solutions, explaining and justifying the consequences of choices.

  • Necessary for configuring software and documenting processes.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and ownership within the team.

Knowledge Management
  • Actively absorb new information and ideas, apply them effectively, and share knowledge with others.

Commitment and Engagement
  • Ability to tackle tasks, show commitment, and seek better alternatives to achieve set goals for the business and within the IT team.

Knowledge and Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in software configuration and customization, with strong knowledge of IT systems in healthcare and familiarity with IT and healthcare-specific standards.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in Dutch and English, both oral and written.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and external partners, In English and Dutch.
  • Training and Presentation Skills: Ability to provide training and present information to various audiences.
