Job Description
Join our team to play a pivotal role in helping customers and partners embrace digitalization and automation in the oil field, ensuring they remain competitive in the 4th Industrial Revolution.
As an Application Engineer, you’ll provide pre-sale technical support to meet customer needs, drive satisfaction, and contribute to Sensia’s business goals. You'll work collaboratively across product management, development, and other teams to ensure technical excellence and alignment with our strategic vision.
This role primarily focuses on providing technical support for the measurement applications of Sensia’s ultrasonic flow meters.Additional areas of focus include RTU and edge controllers, peripheral devices like flow computers, flow measurement meters, and Sensia's open oil and gas digitalization platform, Avalon.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist customers with the application of our products into their equipment and processes.
- Support Sales Team and Business Partners with application assessment and technical discussions.Help answer technical questions about the installation, programming, setup and startup of stated Sensia products.
- Assist in Development of training collateral for Sales Team and Partner Network, such as demo kits, programming labs, and case studies.
- Collect feedback from partners and customers about technical requirements needed to satisfy the installation and performance of Sensia products and act as the bridge between the customer and development engineering team.
- Act as technical liaison and first line of support between Product Line managers, Technolgy and Sales Team with product lines of knowledge.
- Act as the eyes and ears of Sensia related to technical feedback on identified products.
- Forge a relationship of trust and respect with Product Management, Development and Business Leadership to enable swift changes related to product technical specifications that will ease the application of identified products. Execution of a few select Growth Initiatives (position will take on 2-3).
- Provide internal and channel application training related to identified products.
- Lead MSTeams calls with channels and customers for the purpose of gaining competence, confidence and commitment to the product lines. Assist with the Coordination and the implementation of an application engineering database for stated products to enable speed of response for repeat technical questions and challenges.
- Work with Sales Operations to Enable a customer response system that establishes a case number and ensure tenacity towards closing open technical issues.
- Monitor and audit application engineering process performance.
- Execution of process improvements.
- Travel as necessary to support Sales Team and Partner Network.
- Interface with Marketing to build application notes and sales collateral for promotion of Sensia Solutions.
- Assist technology, by reviewing technical documentation like manuals and technical notes, testing the product themselves during beta phase testing
The Individual
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong background in ultrasonic flow meters for gas and liquid applications (OIML, AGA9, ISO17089).
- Familiarity with oil and gas certifications is a plus.
- Proficiency in fluid mechanics, viscosity, Reynolds numbers, flow profiles, wet gas, and entrained gas behavior.
- Proven ability to engage directly with customers and address their technical challenges with empathy and expertise.
- Understanding of peripheral devices like measurement sensors and flow computers within process systems.
- Above-average proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.
