Job SummaryThe Applications Engineer I (AE I) is a customer facing engineering role responsible for providing technical and application support for GPT Industries LLC, with a primary focus on Flange Isolation Kits (FIK) and Monolithic Isolation Joints (MIJ). The AE I supports sales, customers, and internal stakeholders by applying engineering fundamentals, applicable industry standards, and product knowledge to ensure proper product selection, application, and performance. This role blends technical analysis, customer support, and field exposure, serving as a foundational position for future technical and commercial leadership.
Key Responsibilities – General- Provide technical support to internal and external sales teams, distributors, and end users related to product applications, performance, and installation.
- Assist customers in troubleshooting application issues to ensure satisfactory product performance.
- Support customer visits, jobsite visits, and field evaluations under guidance of senior engineers.
- Prepare technical documentation including application recommendations, data sheets, and reports.
- Analyze returned or field samples and document findings.
- Maintain accurate records of application activities in CRM systems.
- Assist with internal and external technical training programs.
- Stay current with applicable industry standards (ASME, API, ISO, NACE/AMPP).
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams as required.
- Support selection and application of Flange Isolation Kits in oil & gas, pipeline, refining, chemical, and industrial services.
- Assist with material selection for gaskets, sleeves, washers, and isolating components based on pressure, temperature, media, and flange type.
- Support compliance with relevant standards such as ASME PCC-1, ASME B16.5, NACE SP0286, ISO 15589, and client specifications.
- Review flange data and assist with gasket sizing, bolt load considerations, and isolation performance requirements.
- Support electrical isolation performance requirements including resistance testing, voltage requirements, and environmental considerations.
- Assist with installation guidance and troubleshooting of common FIK issues.
- Support application and technical evaluation of Monolithic Isolation Joints for pipeline systems.
- Assist with MIJ selection based on pressure class, pipeline size, coating system, electrical isolation requirements, and installation constraints.
- Support review of project specifications, drawings, and datasheets.
- Assist with documentation related to testing requirements such as hydrostatic, pneumatic, electrical resistance, and coating integrity tests.
- Assist sales teams with technical input for proposals, quotations, and customer inquiries.
- Participate in technical presentations for distributors and end users.
- Support Voice-of-Customer (VoC) activities for new product development.
- Maintain opportunity and contact information in CRM systems.

- Fundamental understanding of mechanical systems and materials.

- Exposure to gasket, sealing, pipeline, or corrosion engineering applications.
- Familiarity with FIKs, MIJs, or cathodic protection systems.
- Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Participate in safety programs and maintain 5S standards.
