Job Summary
The Optics Application
Engineer is responsible for leveraging engineering domain knowledge and
expertise to assist customers in solving complex engineering problems using
Ansys Zemax OpticStudio software. This role focuses primarily on pre-sales
activities but also involves providing technical support. The engineer will
support customers to significantly impact software revenue, offering technical
solutions, conducting demonstrations, and delivering training sessions
To perform this job successfully, an
individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties and
responsibilities satisfactorily.
- Apply advanced engineering expertise and
knowledge of optics (with a strong focus on Ansys Zemax) to provide the
highest level of technical support to customers and channel partners,
ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved
customer satisfaction and productivity.
- Work closely with potential and current
customers to scope technical solutions that meet and optimize their
operational needs
- Collaborate with account managers to identify,
advance, and technically drive new opportunities and sustained account
support
- Provide, track, and document first level
technical support for existing customer accounts and elevate support when
appropriate
- Develop, organize, and deliver introductory
technical training courses on the use of ANSYS Optics products
- Maintain a general understanding of the breadth
of technology provided by all ANSYS product offerings and technical
solutions in optical applications
- Sustain technical proficiency through ANSYS
certifications and continual pursuit of personal, technical, and
professional growth
- Participate in and support internal marketing
initiatives that drive customer engagement, education, and grow technical
capacity
Education/Experience/Skills:
(Required)
- Requires a Minimum Master of Science Degree in Physical/Optical
Engineering or related field
- Requires a Minimum of 2 years’ experience using ANSYS Zemax
Optics Studio and/or Speos/Lumerical.
- Knowledge of Geometrical Ray tracing and
Physical wave optics.
- Requires Strong Knowledge of Optical Design
for Automotive Camera sensor-related applications or Optical Imaging
in Aerospace and Defense market.
- Knowledge in 3D CAD design tools
- Experience with optical system optimization to
achieve desired performance metrics
- Experience with designing and analysing laser
systems, including beam shaping and focusing
- Knowledge of optical aberrations and methods to
minimize them
- Requires the ability to work effectively in both
independent and diverse team environments
- Requires excellent problem-solving skills and
ability to develop practical engineering solutions to difficult problems
- Requires exceptional customer service aptitude,
as well as communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools to
include PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is required
Education/Experience/Skills:
(Preferred)
- In-depth
use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD,
PLM software packages
- Understanding of light
source modelling and light distribution control
- Familiarity with beam
propagation and diffraction analysis
- Familiarity with common programming languages
(C, C++, Python, Matlab, etc.) is a plus
Skills Required
- Minimum Master of Science Degree in Physical/Optical Engineering or related field
