Application Engineer - II

Role Summary

We are seeking a Java Application Engineer with good technical expertise that is passionate about software development, to join our Vanguard Personal Investor Platform team.

You will need to demonstrate strong curiosity, proactivity and ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within our team and wider partners & stakeholders.

This role provides intermediate-level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases and supports backend performance optimization, data integration, documentation, and secure development practices.

In this role you will

• Develop Spring Boot microservices

• Create unit tests

• Create cucumber and playwright integration tests

• Create and deploy AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation

• Collaborate with other developers on the team and comfortable with occasional pair programming

• Provide system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrates third party products

• Translate technical specifications into code for internal clients

• Write programs, develops code, tests artifacts

• Employ software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that support automation

• Elevate code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provide follow up production support. Submits change control requests and documents

• Interface with cross functional team members and communicates systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience

• Understand and complies with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures and verifies that deliverables meet requirements

• Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned

What it takes

• AWS knowledge, Angular/HTML development knowledge would be a bonus

• An understanding and appreciation of the benefits of Agile, Kanban and Lean methodologies

• Previous experience of Java development experience

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or similar or equivalent combination of training and experience

• An understanding of Languages/Framework (Required): Java, Spring, etc

• This is a hybrid position and would require you to work in the office 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)
