What you’ll do 

The API Platform Engineer role will manage, maintain and enhance our API platforms. The role will be responsible for resolving complex technical issues, managing coding enhancements (Java, Spring Boot), and facilitating smooth application management and change deployments. 

Due to the secure nature of this role, we are looking for candidates that has Australian citizenship and has the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Application Management: Ensure the stability, performance, and reliability of API gateways and integrations
• Development & Bug Fixing: Perform coding and code-level troubleshooting using Java and Spring Boot
• ITSM Execution: Handle deep-dive Incident Management and Problem Management to resolve L3 technical escalations
• Change Enablement: Package, test, and deploy API updates, configurations, and platform changes

Here’s what you need:

• API Management & Design (Red Hat 3scale): REST API concepts, API Gateway patterns, API security, Rate limiting/quotas
• Container Platform (Red Hat OpenShift): Linux basics, Docker/Podman, Kubernetes (Pods, Services, Deployments, Namespaces), Networking basics, YAML/JSON
• Identity & Access Management (Red Hat SSO / Keycloak): OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML 2.0, LDAP/AD concepts, IAM fundamentals
• Apicurio (Studio & Registry): OpenAPI 3.x specification, JSON Schema, API-first design
• Microcks (Mocking & Contract Testing): API contract testing, OpenAPI/AsyncAPI familiarity, Postman or SoapUI
• Integration & Messaging (Red Hat Build for Apache Camel): Java programming, Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP), Routing/transformation concepts, REST/SOAP, Maven
• API Development (Java Spring Boot): Building a RESTful API service, Business logic and data processing using Java Spring Boot framework

Bonus point if with

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and automation tools including Ansible and Terraform
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK/OpenSearch
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and virtualization technologies (VMware/vSphere)
• Understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Kafka and RabbitMQ
• Knowledge of security best practices including TLS/SSL, secret management and OWASP principles
• Basic database skills (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL)
• Experience working in Agile environments with Jira, Confluence, incident and change management processes
