Our financial-services work includes secure platforms and technology delivery supporting banking, payments, digital channels, integration, data, and financial operations. ## Job Title API Connect / Integration Developer ## Location Cairo, Egypt (hybrid/work-from-office supported; international collaboration as needed) ## Years of Experience 5–9 years ## Job Description As an API Connect / Integration Developer at ITGoals, you will design, publish, secure, operate, and troubleshoot enterprise APIs using IBM API Connect. You will enable controlled integration between digital channels, workflow platforms, backend services, and core enterprise systems. You will work with architects, application developers, security teams, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to deliver stable, secure, and observable integrations in regulated environments. ## Key Responsibilities * Design, publish, configure, and support APIs through IBM API Connect in line with enterprise integration and security standards. * Define API contracts, request/response structures, mapping logic, routing, transformations, and controlled exposure of backend capabilities. * Configure gateway policies for authentication, authorization, throttling, validation, transformation, routing, logging, and error handling. * Implement and support API security using OAuth, JWT, API keys, certificates, and related enterprise security mechanisms. * Work with REST APIs, JSON, XML, headers, status codes, and integration protocols required by connected systems. * Manage certificates and environment-specific configuration while following secure deployment and change-management practices. * Test APIs using appropriate tools, validate functional and non-functional behavior, and support QA and UAT teams during release cycles. * Monitor API behavior and troubleshoot gateway errors, connectivity issues, mapping problems, authorization failures, performance concerns, and downstream service errors. * Collaborate with architects, application developers, workflow teams, security teams, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to deliver stable integrations. * Document API specifications, policies, dependencies, deployment requirements, and support information. ## Required Experience * Hands-on experience with enterprise API management or integration platforms, ideally IBM API Connect. * Experience delivering and supporting REST-based APIs in production environments. * Practical exposure to API security, gateway policies, certificates, and integration troubleshooting. * Ability to diagnose issues across gateway, network, application, and downstream-service boundaries. ## Required Skills * IBM API Connect * REST APIs * OAuth, JWT, and API Key security * Gateway policies and routing * JSON / XML transformation and mapping * Certificates and secure connectivity * API testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting * Error handling and production-support practices ## Banking / Fintech & Nice to Have * Banking, fintech, payments, open banking, digital channels, or other regulated integration experience is a strong advantage. * OpenAPI / Swagger specification design. * Java / Spring Boot or microservices integration experience. * OpenShift, containers, CI/CD, or automated API deployment. * Experience with high-volume, business-critical APIs and performance monitoring. ## What Success Looks Like * Treats APIs as governed enterprise products rather than simple endpoints. * Balances integration speed with security, stability, traceability, and supportability. * Can isolate complex integration problems quickly and communicate root cause clearly. * Delivers reliable, scalable solutions that meet business needs and compliance requirements. * Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement through thorough testing, documentation, and healthy design decisions. ## ITGOALS Offers * Enterprise-scale assignments where engineering quality, security, resilience, and delivery discipline matter. * Structured ITGoals recruitment, onboarding, delivery governance, and clear professional ownership throughout the engagement. * Collaboration with experienced engineers, architects, QA professionals, delivery leaders, and business stakeholders. * Exposure to complex digital-transformation environments and the opportunity to deepen banking, fintech, payments, and regulated-enterprise experience. * Opportunities to contribute to long-term enterprise delivery programs based on performance, business demand, and role fit. ## Application Instructions Share an updated CV with the ITGoals recruitment team, highlighting the experience most relevant to this role, particularly enterprise delivery, banking / fintech exposure where applicable, and the technologies listed above.
