Join our Markets Sales & Research Business Controls Management (BCM) team as a Senior Associate in Singapore, where you'll support the controls oversight of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) Markets Sales businesses, with Sales across APAC. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse set of securities and derivative products. As an Associate – Markets Sales Business Control Manager within our Markets Sales & Research Business Control Management team, you will oversee the risk and control environment for APAC Markets Sales businesses. As a key member of the Asia Pacific business control function for Corporate and Investment Bank Sales & Marketing, you will design, implement, and enhance front office supervisory controls and related procedures. You will manage risk events and associated data, perform control-related due diligence, and promote continuous process and efficiency improvements. You will establish and maintain robust control governance, including meaningful metrics, reporting, and the effective management of control committees. You will independently lead and deliver projects of varying complexity and timelines, from risk assessment and requirements definition through to execution and communication. You will partner with stakeholders across functions to promote consistent operational risk practices and strengthen control programs. You will build strong relationships and secure stakeholder buy-in to support successful delivery of control initiatives. You will represent front office interests in control and regulatory programs, sharing best practices and ensuring alignment with business objectives. You will coordinate and manage regulatory, audit, and compliance testing activities in line with the Operational Risk Management Framework. You will directly support senior sales managers in regional and line-of-business management meetings and control governance forums, providing insight on risk, controls, and supervisory matters.
 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Assist and lead the development and implementation of procedures on Front Office Supervision and build Supervisory controls, facilitating their execution and exception management.
  • Establish control governance and reporting to identify meaningful metrics and manage control committees.
  • Independently drive projects with varying delivery timeframes. Assess risks, develop requirements, and communicate effectively while identifying areas for efficiency improvements. 
  • Partner with colleagues to drive consistent operational risk practices and control programs.
  • Achieve stakeholder buy-in and build partnerships across functions for deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively throughout project and control lifecycles, ensuring stakeholders are informed. 
  • Represent Front Office interests in control and regulatory initiatives, sharing best practices. 
  • Manage 1st line of defense responsibilities, including risk event data occurrences and control-related due diligence. 
  • Manage regulatory, audit, and compliance testing activities, adhering to the Operational Risk Management Framework. 
  • Directly support senior sales managers at regional and Line of Business management meetings and controls governance forums. 

Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or other related disciplines
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in financial industry roles such as Operational Risk Control, Operations, Business Management, Front Office, Compliance 
  • Knowledge of financial Markets business and regulatory environment in Singapore and Asia Pacific
  • Demonstrable experience in network building, cross-functional collaboration, and influencing. 
  • Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills. 
  • Investigative mindset with the ability to see issues at both a strategic and detailed level. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process re-engineering skills. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong team player with excellent partnering and influencing skills. 

Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities: 

  • Familiarity of Markets, including end-to-end product lifecycle and various Markets regulations globally (e.g., MIFID, Dodd-Frank). 
  • Experience managing audits and regulatory exams
  • Knowledge of derivatives and securities products through their product lifecycle.
