If you’re an experienced writer with a finger on the pulse of the Anime world, CBR wants you to join its award-winning writing team! CBR is the oldest and most respected comic book culture website in the world. It is the internet’s first and final stop for nerd culture, news, commentary and community. 

CBR is looking for passionate writers who love reading through piles of weekly Manga and bingeing Anime, identifying the most noteworthy happenings within them, and turning around insightful and interesting pieces to share with our community, all to tight deadlines and exacting standards.

At the same time, we want seasoned content creators with proven experience writing clean, informative copy to tight deadlines and exacting editorial standards.

Are you a passionate Otaku dedicated to every morsel of anime and manga the world has to offer? Do you have a broad knowledge base that covers everything from mainstream anime hits to the most hidden manga gems? If so, CBR wants you to join our team! Qualifications 

  • Broad working knowledge of Anime and Manga, including: 
    • Dragon Ball
    • One Piece
    • Naruto
    • Bleach
    • Avatar/Korra
    • Studio Ghibli
    • Sailor Moon
    • Isekai
    • Pokémon
    • One Punch Man
    • Jujutsu Kaisen 
  • Up to date with new anime and manga and anime news
  • The ability to analyze content and pull directly from the source material to back up claims 
  • A sharp eye for grammatical details 
  • Excellent command of the English language 
  • Ability to write high-quality articles with swift turn-around times 
  • Comfortable working in an entirely virtual environment 
  • Should possess a general understanding of anime culture and strong research skills

 

Responsibilities 

  • Write a minimum of 5 News stories a week in CBR’s house style (following the requisite training) 
    • Please note that News stories are a minimum of 450 words
  • This will include fact-checking, formatting, linking, and image sourcing/very basic editing (sizing, brightness, etc.) 
  • Brainstorm, pitch, and develop original content ideas that’ll be published on-site
  • Accept and apply any/all feedback received by the editorial team
  • Communicate openly and actively with the editorial team
