The Position:

The Fanatics team is dedicated to making GameChanger the ultimate hub for community engagement and insights around young athletes. Our mission is to grow the GameChanger community by bringing more fans, family members, and friends into the ecosystem, and connecting them with highly personalized and relevant content that brings them closer to the action.

As an Android Software Engineer, you will use modern tools to develop features in our native Android application and across the stack. You will build engaging user-facing features by contributing your expertise, writing code, and making architectural decisions on a team of Product Managers, Designers, QA Analysts, and Engineers. You will report to one of our Product Engineering Managers.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead feature development for fan experiences, community engagement, and personalized content throughout the stack, with a focus on our Android app.

  • Work with peers on important decisions about how our applications are architected and built.

  • Team up with designers, testers, and product managers to find the best solutions for our customers.

  • Teach and learn with engineers across the company.

  • Promote responsible engineering practices and mentor team members.

  • Drive consensus on your team and solutions to challenging problems.

Who You Are:

  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals.

  • Experience leading successful Android projects.

  • Experience shipping beautiful, high-quality apps.

  • Participate in regular design and code reviews with development team members to confirm use of best practices.

  • Understand and evaluate new technologies, develop skills in new technologies.

  • Passion and experienced working with the latest Android tech.

  • Comfort working in a cross-functional product team.

  • Experience mentoring engineers and organizing work within a team.

Experience:

  • Our apps are written in Kotlin and use a reactive MVVM architecture driven by the Jetpack lifecycle components (including Compose), Realm, and Flows/RxJava.

  • Your team will also do iOS development in Swift, so having background there would be a bonus, but is not required.

  • Our backend APIs are built with TypeScript, Node.js, Redis, Kafka, and PostgreSQL and run in AWS. It's not required that you know these, but being able to work closely with the backend engineers on your team by understanding these technologies is a bonus.

The target salary range for this position is between $130,000 and $160,000. This is part of a total compensation package that includes incentive, equity, and benefits for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by several factors including experience, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We constantly review all teammate pay to ensure a great compensation package that is fair and equal across the board.

Our hybrid policy allows employees to work however they work best. While we do have a home base in NYC, teammates are able to work remotely throughout the country, with minimal travel.
