Position Summary

Qnity is seeking a highly motivated Analytical Lab Supervisor. This location supplies electronic polymers to the semiconductor industry for final use in products ranging from cell phones to automobiles. The Analytical Lab Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the Quality Control Laboratory, including but not limited to managing the safe operation of lab activities, supervising laboratory staff, and working closely with operations and QA to ensure product test results are timely and accurate.  The Analytical Lab Supervisor will report to the Dayton Site Quality Manager.  

This is a 100% onsite position located in our Dayton OH facility.

What You Will Do:

  • Ensures adherence to established operations and safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate all activities associated with daily laboratory operations and testing, assigning priorities to laboratory staff as necessary.
  • Assures and maintains compliance of products and processes. Reviews data and monitors compliance with customer specifications.
  • Maintains standards in the areas of housekeeping, safety, attendance, operational discipline, process safety management, and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Responsible for responding to personnel, operational and safety and environmental incidents.
  • Periodically evaluate laboratory procedures, system controls and technical documentation such as SOPs and batch records to ensure compliance.
  • Manage the use and maintenance of scientific equipment and instrumentation and computer systems and ensure that they are kept in a calibrated / validated state.
  • Assist in site visits (Technical and QA), respond to customer/supplier requests and address site visit/audit findings in a timely manner.
  • Provide direct supervision to Laboratory Analysts. Meet with direct reports to set goals, conduct regular one-on-one discussions with employees, ensure development plans are in place for all employees, address personnel issues promptly, interview and hire new candidates and complete performance reviews.
  • Act as point of contact for departmental training and recertification.
  • Participate in site-wide initiatives including Quality systems improvements, Lean projects, etc.
  • Track and report Key Performance Indicators for the Analytical Lab.
  • Execute continuous improvements to the department.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (i.e., Chemistry, Biology, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience as a team lead or supervisor
  • Laboratory experience with analytical instrumentation (GC, IR, NMR, GPC, ICP, GFAAS, etc.)
  • Knowledge in laboratory methods and techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Intermediate skills in applicable Microsoft office Suite programs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills that have been demonstrated through presentations/seminars, oversight of projects, implementation of new services, etc.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Highly collaborative as well as independent
  • Demonstrates a high level of initiative and leadership capabilities
  • Effective supervisory, coaching and training skills for complex and highly technical work
  • Experience with Gage R&R.
  • Six Sigma
