Position Description
HPS is seeking a dynamic and organized Analyst to join its global ESG team at the London office. In this role, the Analyst will work across various investment strategies and receive guidance and support from the ESG Forum and other teams within the Firm. This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth.
This Analyst will assist in coordinating and enhancing the integration of ESG practices across HPS’s investment teams. Additionally, the role involves analyzing ESG risks during due diligence and post-investment. Responsibilities will also include assisting with client questionnaires, requests, presentations, and tasks related to ESG data, benchmarking and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- ESG Analysis & Reporting: Conduct ESG analysis on current and prospective private credit investments. Provide regular reporting and updates on ESG-related performance to key stakeholders.
- Data Collection & Assessment: Collect and analyze ESG data from portfolio companies, including KPIs, risk factors, and sustainability metrics.
- Due Diligence: Assist in the ESG due diligence process for new investments, identifying material ESG risks and opportunities.
- Research & Benchmarking: Stay current with ESG trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in private credit. Conduct benchmarking to assess the firm’s practices relative to industry standards.
- Policy Development & Implementation: Support the development and implementation of ESG policies and frameworks tailored to private credit investments.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with investment teams, portfolio companies, and other stakeholders to align on ESG priorities and drive positive ESG outcomes.
- ESG Reporting & Communication: Assist with client questionnaires, requests and presentations. Contribute to annual sustainability reports and other communications highlighting the firm’s ESG activities and achievements.
Candidate Profile
Knowledge and Experience
- A minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience as an analyst in the Financial Services sector or at an ESG consultancy. Experience or coursework in ESG research is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and effective time
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in business
- Ability to conduct research, develop an independent viewpoint, and prepare discussion
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and at a high energy
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, environmental sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates may have completed a comprehensive training program at a leading investment bank.
Technical Requirements:
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential.
- Language skills are a plus but not required.
