The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience, ranging from $62,964 to $78,705.
JOB SUMMARY:
Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:
This position is primarily focused on Electric Supply contractual arrangements, but also provides support with Gas Supply contractual arrangements:
1. Serves as the primary interface and the official point of contact for all contractual matters, as well as during all the phases of contract formation and administration. Performing end-to-end contracting process for the organization, including contract strategy development or negotiations.
2. Advises management of contractual rights and obligations, as well as providing interpretation of terms and conditions
3. Ensures that the company’s policies and current industry standards are negotiated into physical and financial commodity contracts used in hedging the commodity supply requirements for NYSEG and RG&E.
4. Negotiates and interprets financial assurance documents and transaction confirmations.
5. Maintains the Counterparty and Credit Risk Management database.
6. Individual must possess an understanding of utility policies and practices and work effectively under pressure and regulatory time constraints.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):
1. Monitors, negotiates, updates and tracks:
a) ISDA w/Power Annex with counterparties.
2. Companies’ Power Purchase Agreements with counterparties
3. The timely execution of contracts, extensions, renewals, and terminations involving Energy and Wholesale Market Contract management, as well as Renewable Energy Certificates
4. Ensures compliance with:
a) Dodd-Frank requirements,
b) Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and
c) Company/Department Procedures
5. Coordinates with Regulatory Administrator to ensure that all required Agreements are filed as necessary with the NY PSC.
6. Assists the Manager – Non-Wires Alternatives, Asset Management and Planning with reviews of NDAs for various RFPs.
7. Maintains E/CTRM Contract Database, including creation of new contracts and counterparties within the system, termination of expired contracts, and attaching all supporting documentation.
8. Responds to inquiries from different parties or clients regarding contractual obligations and reviews.
9. Leads the department effort for ensuring that NY Energy Services Department Document Management processes/activities are in compliance with Corporate and Regulatory Records Retention requirements.
10. Take the necessary action to ensure that all ISO-/RTO- and regulatory-required reporting requirements for NYSEG & RG&E are in full compliance.
Minimally, this includes timely submission of any Affiliates Lists, Sector Selection, Financial Statements and Officer Certification submissions.
11. Provide the necessary support for any Rate Case process including testifying.
12. May be required to represent AVANGRID orally or in writing to regulatory, public and industry focused entities, including the NYISO.
13. Monitor NYSEG and RG&E Contracts in FERC EQR and FERC 860 Filings. Interface and file documentation with appropriate State and Federal regulatory agencies and ISOs/RTOs to ensure compliance.
14. Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve New York's statutory clean energy goals. Resolves complex problems in non-standard situations and develops creative solutions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience Required:

This position requires minimally an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Assistant or related field with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience preferred.

At least one year of Legal/Contract Administration and Negotiation work experience.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is a must: energy procurement, wholesale energy trading/marketing, energy supply planning, integrated resource planning, NYISO markets, regulatory planning, or energy contracts. Similar experience with corporate purchasing, contract management, supply management or accounting may be partially substituted for experience with energy markets and contracts.
