Job Description:
The Restaurants team at BofA Research is responsible for covering approximately 24 listed companies across the restaurant and foodservice distributors sectors. In addition to coverage of publicly traded companies, the team regularly vets a number of private companies for potential IPOs. The candidate for the position should be highly analytical, intellectually curious, and have a deep desire to learn. Given the team’s heavy vetting load and fast pace nature of the restaurant industry, the candidate should also have relevant experience with financial modeling and quantitative analysis. The candidate should possess strong verbal communication and writing skills. The ideal candidate possesses experience in sell-side research, investment banking, or roles that require complex data analysis and statistical modeling.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex financial modeling & valuation work
- Develop and analyze databases integral to our research product
- Seek out new, unusual sources of information
- Respond to client inquiries in a timely and effective fashion
- Write regular industry and company reports and company launch initiations from scratch
- Demonstrate strong industry knowledge and business judgment
- Work with Senior Analysts to develop key industry themes
- Build relationships and facilitate information flow with contacts at covered companies
- Participate and contribute to client meetings and events
- Attend meetings and interact with key opinion leaders
- Closely follow and understand market, industry and company specific activity
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
- Min 1 year of experience focusing in equity research, wholesale credit, buy side experience or investment banking experience
- Must have strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task
- Strong writing and modeling skills. Must be an expert at MS Word and MS Excel
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and intense environment.
- Must have excellent communications skills, written and verbal
- Must enjoy following the stock market and doing desktop and field research
- Along with Finance and Accounting, should have basic understanding of economics, macroeconomic factors, international affairs, and policy/politics
- Must work well in a collaborative team environment
