Job Summary:
The AML Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst will be responsible for conducting quality reviews of documented dispositions of AML transaction monitoring alerts, AML case review, SARs, OFAC/sanctions screening, and related AML processes. These reviews will assist in setting and maintaining compliance standards with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the financial crime risk management program by identifying potential issues, ensuring consistency, and providing feedback to support continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Reviews & Testing
Perform end-to-end quality reviews of AML transaction monitoring alerts and investigative case files to ensure adherence to internal standards and regulatory expectations (e.g., BSA/AML, OFAC).
Conduct quality assurance reviews of sanctions screening activities, including name and transaction screening matches and disposition documentation.
Validate that AML reviews include complete and well-reasoned narratives, risk assessments, and proper escalation or SAR decisioning.
Identify potential areas of process improvement, especially templates, data, and automation.
Documentation & Feedback
Document findings, observations, and root causes in QA reports and logs with clarity and accuracy.
Provide constructive feedback to analysts and investigators to promote continuous learning and improve investigative quality.
Contribute to AML training to help address common deficiencies and promote best practices.
Issue Tracking & Reporting
Track quality issues, trends, and remediation progress.
Assist in preparing periodic information for AML management, compliance oversight, internal audit, and related.
Assist with reporting periodic updates in response to Audit findings.
Policy & Process Alignment
Ensure reviewed work aligns with AML compliance program standards, regulatory guidance, and internal operating procedures.
Support periodic updates to QA checklists and review criteria based on regulatory changes or operational developments.
Cross-Functional Support
Work closely with AML Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions Compliance, Agent/Distributor Oversight, Compliance, and Operational Risk teams to ensure a coordinated approach to quality and compliance.
Participate in calibration exercises and team meetings to maintain scoring consistency across reviewers.
Qualifications:
2–5+ years of experience in AML compliance, transaction monitoring, or sanctions screening, preferably in a QA or audit capacity.
Strong knowledge of AML regulations (BSA, USA PATRIOT Act), OFAC and global sanctions requirements, and suspicious activity reporting.
Familiarity with AML and sanctions monitoring systems (e.g., Actimize, SAS, Bridger) and case management platforms.
Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
High attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.
CAMS, CFE, or equivalent AML/sanctions certification preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
