Automation Engineer
· Conduct site visits and facility assessments,
capturing measurements, material flow data, and operational insights that
inform design and ROI analysis.
· Build cost models and performance analyses to
compare technologies such as ASRS, AMRs, conveyors, and manual handling
options.
· Develop AutoCAD layouts showing equipment
interfaces, racking configurations, conveyor routing, and operator interaction
points.
· Identify and partner with OEMs and technology
providers (conveyors, ASRS, robotics, controls, racking) to source and quote
solutions that best align with each client’s operational goals.
· Collaborate with suppliers and integration
partners to validate specifications for controls, safety systems, and equipment
integration.
· Contribute to client presentations, proposals,
and reports with clear visuals and data-backed recommendations.
· Participate in internal design reviews and help
refine Forge’s standard tool sets and templates for scalable, repeatable system
design.
Requirements
· 3+ years experience in automation engineering,
systems integration, or facility design for warehouse or manufacturing
operations.
· Working knowledge of conveyors, racking systems,
ASRS (automated storage & retrieval), and controls integration — ideally
with exposure to both mechanical and electrical interfaces.
· Proficiency with AutoCAD for layout work and
Excel / Power BI for modeling and analysis.
· Strong understanding of material flow,
throughput, and system balancing principles.
· Excellent communication skills; able to engage
with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Naturally curious, detail-driven, and
comfortable with ambiguity.
· Willingness to travel up to 75% for site walks,
client workshops, and design coordination.
· Familiarity with automotive or tier-1
manufacturing operations is a plus, but not required.
