Activities Assistant- Senior Care Facility

We are seeking a passionate and engaging Activities Assistant to work closely with our Activities Director in providing enriching recreational activities, entertainment, and social opportunities for our residents, particularly those with cognitive impairments. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to foster a vibrant and supportive community for our seniors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities, entertainment, and social events tailored to the interests and needs of seniors, including those with cognitive impairments
- Collaborate with the Activities Director to develop and implement engaging programs that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being
- Build meaningful relationships with residents, encouraging participation and ensuring activities are inclusive and enjoyable
- Monitor and assess residents’ responses to activities, making adjustments as needed to maximize engagement and comfort
- Maintain a safe and positive environment during all activities, adhering to facility policies and safety standards
- Document participation and feedback to support personalized care plans and continuous improvement of programs
Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with seniors, preferably in a recreational or activities coordinator role
- Strong creativity and ability to develop engaging, inclusive activities for diverse groups
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members, residents, and families
- Knowledge of cognitive impairments and strategies to support residents with such conditions
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple activities and schedules effectively
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in recreational therapy or related fields are a plus
