As a participant in our programs, you will gain valuable experience and make contributions through meaningful project work. All internship assignments are project-based and focused on real business challenges important to Akamai’s continued success. Program participants will be encouraged to be proactive members on their team, taking on a comfortable level of responsibility, and challenged to think critically and creatively. Our 12-week intern program starts in May.
Help shape the future of the Internet
During your time with us, you will be working with senior engineers on the team as they work on solving our customers’ problems. You’ll be tasked with writing code supporting the system, web, and software engineering teams. You will have ample opportunities to learn new subjects and engage with various technologies, toolsets, and software languages. The ideal candidate will be collegial, curious, agile, and demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and apply new skills in a dynamic and often vague environment.
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for:
● Developing backend software or frontend software as needed
● Building software features through the full software development lifecycle to be used within Akamai
● Collaborating with the cross-functional team on standards and documentation of processes
● Applying your data analysis skills for data engineering project work
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
● Be currently studying in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science or a related field and be returning to school after completion of the internship
● Be comfortable working with Python, JavaScript, and Bash (bonus)
● Have experience with or interest in learning Kubernetes and Docker
● Have experience working in Linux/Unix environment in a professional setting
● Be responsible, self-disciplined, self-motivated, able to think analytically and create solutions to complex problems
● Be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain security clearance in the future
