Our Akamai Defense Architecture team works with breadth and depth across Akamai's technology stack to deliver custom solutions for our Public Sector customers. The team has successful relationships with both our Operations and Engineering teams. Alongside our business and customer teams, we strive to build and operate world-class systems and services for our customers.
Shape the Next Generation Environment for our Government Customers
As a software engineer intern, you will participate in software development and automation to keep our cloud infrastructure up to date. This includes a variety of engineering tasks like programming, testing, and building automated CI/CD pipelines. You will be working with seasoned software, network, and cloud engineers, who will guide you through making key decisions for project design and implementation.
As Software Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for:
· Learning how to build custom virtual machine images using tools such as Packer, Ansible, and/or Salt Stack
· Learning how to build custom Docker container images
· Developing automated pipelines using Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools such as Terraform and Cloudformation
· Designing and implementing unit, integration, and system tests
· Develop strategies to handle logging, monitoring, and alerting data
· Collaborating on Peer Code Reviews
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
· Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and studying computer science, info systems, computer engineering and returning to school following the completion of this internship.
· Have worked on Unix/Linux based environments.
· Have knowledge of Linux package management (YUM/DNF).
· Show familiarity with Cloud Platforms like Azure/AWS.
· Demonstrate experience with at least one of the following: Python, Golang, or Ruby.
· Be knowledgeable of internet technologies such as HTTP, TLS, and DNS.
· Be a U.S. citizen and eligible to obtain security clearance.
