As an Airline Account Manager, you will play a vital role on our Commercial team. The Airline Account Manager is the go-to person that interfaces with Intelsat's international or domestic airline partners. You're Intelsat's voice within the airline, yet you must also be the airline's voice within Intelsat. The ideal candidate knows how to negotiate tricky situations, ambiguous relationships, and curious personalities. At Intelsat Commercial Aviation, you will be part of a unique blend of satcom, airline, internet, and technology. Candidates might have worked at an airline or been a vendor of an airline and have a passion for technology with an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to make deals happen. In all cases, the candidate is a continuous learner who can balance the need for revenue-generation with executive level account management.
What you will do

  • Interface between Intelsat and the airline, and serve as the primary point of contact with airline partners and Intelsat
  • Drive Intelsat's business with the airline partner by searching out revenue opportunities that drive top-line revenue.
  • Communicate regularly with the airline partners about the success of campaigns, ongoing revenue metrics, and operational performance. Share data and information; Create presentations that tell our story
  • Solve complex problems that involve cross functional coordination.
  • Learn and develop a deep understanding, and become an expert in, Intelsat's Commercial Aviation product offering
  • Lead projects with considerable complexity and develop the strategy for execution.
  • Turn our partners into believers and persuade the airline to see Intelsat's POV by understanding the client's needs and deepen the partnership they have with Intelsat.
  • Maintain a leadership role in strategy development and ensure that the strategy maps back to the airline partners' goals
  • This position channels airline feedback, successes and failures to other airline account managers, including the SVP and executive leadership
  • Responsible for understanding operational needs of both Intelsat and specific airlines


Your required experience/skills

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 - 10 years' experience in account management or similar role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to present in front of groups including executive officers, colleagues, CEOs, and large audiences
  • Must have experience handling contracts, working with legal counsel and being thoughtful in complex negotiations
  • Air travel is required, and at times may include evenings and weekends.

  • Relationship building: You develop and maintain a trusted and mutually beneficial relationship with client's (Product, Procurement and Operations), partners and colleagues ensuring the long-term success of the accounts that you are assigned.
  • Customer Service Orientation: You have a strong focus on customer satisfaction, understanding of client needs and providing excellent service.
  • Team player: Your ability to work effectively with various departments within both Intelsat and the client ensures cohesive service delivery.
  • Commercial Aviation Connectivity advocacy: You keep up to date with industry trends, client specific CX initiatives and market shifts and use this intel to craft narratives and help develop customer requirements that lead to the proliferation of Intelsat products and services.


It would be nice if you had:

  • Prior experience in aviation or aviation related accounts
  • Telecom or satellite industry experience
  • Experience working with a US based company (for international roles)
