Team Overview
The Air Dominance and Strike Division is one of Anduril’s fastest growing divisions whose goal is to fundamentally reshape the way future peer to peer conflicts are fought by developing next generation software enabled collaborative air combat weapons. Our division develops, builds, and tests collaborative combat aircraft, missiles, and the software that powers these collaborative robots.
Role Specifics
We are seeking a Technical Writer that will be responsible for producing software engineering documentation for Anduril’s software products that enable third party vendors to rapidly integrate their robots within Anduril’s Lattice platform. As a technical writer, you will be responsible to self-manage the technical writing process, collaborating with software engineers, product managers, vendors and third party capability providers as necessary to produce usable, easy to understand artifacts. The ideal candidate will have previous experiences establishing documentation style guides and delivering a variety of documents types to include interface control documents (ICDs), architecture descriptions, workflow processes/diagrams, and user guides.
Required Qualifications
- Lead technical writing initiatives for Mission Autonomy products, transforming complex technical and operational context into easily comprehensible documentation and artifacts.
- Engage with SMEs, both internal and external, to drive clear decomposition and articulation of the technology and its relevance to a variety of audiences.
- Leverage research techniques to define target user groups, appropriate information hierarchy, etc.
- Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in Air Dominance- specific workflows, ensuring that documentation is grounded in a deep understanding of operational context, engineering and user needs.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, designers and cross-functional teams to ensure crafted artifacts meet strategic objectives and user needs.
- Experience writing easy-to-understand technical artifacts including system functionality overviews, system diagrams, and package ICDs/APIs for release.
- Work with consumers of technical documentation (third-parties and USG personnel) to receive feedback on improvements, and then prioritize and execute improvements.
- Proven ability to convey feedback back into the engineering organization to drive product improvements.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing, information architecture & design or related field with a focus on complex systems or products.
- Proven ability to translate technical and domain specific information into relevant user-centric technical artifacts.
- Demonstrated ability to shape the overall approach/mentality to documentation of the team.
- Ability to drive the collective documentation process independently while engaging stakeholders and team members effectively.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple projects and priorities.
- Comfortable embedding within the engineering community to understand the technical aspects of how engineering services, architectures, and products function.
- Willingness to travel as needed to engage with users and stakeholders (up to 25%)
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated aptitude across a broad range of product types (internal tools, customer-facing applications/products, tools for technical customers).
- Experience in defense, aerospace, or other related fields, with an insight into the operational context of the users.
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates the ability to decompose technical complexity into audience appropriate documentation artifacts.
- Self-starter with the ability to successfully navigate through ambiguity and loosely defined organizational structures.
US Salary Range
$154,000—$231,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
