The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) is looking for an Air Dominance Flight Test Operations Instrumentation Manager to join our team in Berkeley, MO. This is an exciting opportunity to build and lead the instrumentation team supporting a key Boeing proprietary program.
The work scope requires comprehensive management of employees performing engineering and technical work scope in the area of test installations and architecture to include: requirements specific to test installations; design of test installations; supplier management of test parts procurement, fabrication and assembly; flight test installation design planning; instrumentation system integration verification; flight test support; coordination with key suppliers (SAFRAN, TTC, Calculex, etc); and Earned Value Management (EVM) oversight of work scope. The applicant will be responsible to develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and set operational goals. They will develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with internal and external customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
This position is primarily first shift; however the selected candidate must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime.
Candidates should reside in St. Louis Missouri area (where relocating would not be required) or be willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is available to eligible candidates.
This position will require business travel and a future domestic temporary assignment to an alternate test site.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead instrumentation operations team in all phases of test programs
- Technical aspects: cost, schedule, and other programmatic aspects; and proposal support (including development of labor estimates) relative to programs supported
- Develop and engage Employees through: coaching; mentoring; and employee performance assessment, as well as identifying growth opportunities and assignments that best fit the needs of the individual and the company
- Use communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to change and deal with ambiguity
- Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
- Manage, develop and motivate employees
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- 1+ years of experience in a managerial or team lead role
- 3+ years of experience supporting a military flight test program
- 1+ years of experience with instrumentation and/or data acquisition systems
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) or experience creating estimates
- Experience leading technical teams
- Experience working on multiple projects concurrently
- Experience as an Instrumentation Engineer, Test Requirements & Analysis Engineer, or Flight Test Engineer on a military test program
- Experience with interfacing with test sites
- Experience with Program Management Best Practices including: Requirements Management; Earned Value Management; and Risk/Issue/Opportunity Management
