We’re seeking a senior, hands-on Director of AI Platforms to take on a technical leadership and team lead role within a fast-growing startup building production-grade AI platforms for mission-critical industrial systems. Reporting to the CTO, you’ll lead and mentor an engineering team while remaining deeply involved in the architecture, design, and delivery of AI-driven software products operating in real-world environments.
About the Project
You’ll lead the evolution of an AI software platform that enables autonomous, data-driven decision-making for complex industrial systems. As the platform scales from early deployments to broader production use, you’ll guide architecture, delivery, and team execution to ensure reliability, scalability, and real-world performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of agentic AI systems capable of goal-driven decision-making, planning, and autonomous action;
Translate product and customer requirements into scalable, production-ready AI and software platform designs;
Drive rapid iteration and deployment while ensuring system reliability, safety, and maintainability;
Define engineering and AI platform standards to support long-term scalability and operational excellence;
Balance learning-based approaches (RL, ML) with deterministic or rules-based components where appropriate;
Participate in design and code reviews, troubleshooting complex technical challenges;
Improve development efficiency through process optimization and technical leadership;
Coordinate and technically guide a multidisciplinary team of ~30 engineers in collaboration with program management;
Support customer-facing and sales discussions requiring deep AI and platform expertise.
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience building complex, production-grade software products, with a strong focus on AI/ML systems;
Proven experience deploying decision-making or autonomous systems into customer cloud or hybrid environments;
Strong foundation in machine learning, reinforcement learning, optimization, control systems, and statistics;
Demonstrated experience designing and delivering agent-based or autonomous platforms;
Excellent software engineering skills, particularly in Python and SQL (UX experience is a plus);
Ability to make sound architectural and technical decisions with incomplete or imperfect data;
Experience working in or scaling early-stage or Series A/B startup environments.
The recruitment process includes:
30-minute HR screening call (Zoom);
1-hour deep technical interview;
Strategic discussion with senior technical leadership;
Final offer and alignment meeting.
