About the role

We’re looking for an AI & Automation Engineer to design, build, and support AI, automation, and digital workplace solutions that improve productivity, reduce manual effort, and solve practical business problems across Trinity. Working closely with the Digital Workplace & AI Lead, business stakeholders and Technology teams, you will turn prioritised opportunities into working solutions, taking ideas from discovery and rapid prototyping through to production-ready implementation and ongoing support.

You will design and develop AI-enabled applications, agents, workflow automations and integrations, working with enterprise systems, APIs and organisational data. You will build solutions that are scalable, secure, supportable, and appropriate for the problem being solved, rather than applying AI where a simpler solution would be more effective. You will also contribute to evaluating and testing emerging AI technologies, develop reusable components and automation patterns, and help establish strong engineering practices for AI delivery across Trinity.

Working within Trinity’s AI governance and technology standards, you will ensure appropriate consideration is given to security, data privacy, human oversight, testing, monitoring and responsible AI as solutions move from experimentation into live use.

This is an opportunity to help establish a new engineering capability and directly influence how AI and automation are used across the organisation.

About you

You'll have hands-on experience designing, developing and supporting AI, automation, workflow or software solutions, with the ability to translate business requirements into practical, scalable and supportable technical outcomes.

You'll be comfortable taking solutions through the full delivery lifecycle, from prototype and proof of concept through testing, integration, deployment and production support. You'll be able to work independently on technical delivery while collaborating effectively with business stakeholders, architects, security teams and other technology specialists.

You'll have a strong understanding of automation and emerging AI technologies, including generative AI, agentic AI and AI orchestration, together with experience integrating solutions through APIs and enterprise applications. Hands-on experience developing AI, automation or integrated digital solutions is essential, while experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Azure AI or comparable technologies would be advantageous.

Experience in areas such as Python, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, enterprise search, AI evaluation and testing, identity and permissions, CI/CD and modern engineering practices would also be valuable.

We're looking for someone who is analytical, curious and delivery-focused, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly to non-technical colleagues. You don't need experience across every technology listed above. We're more interested in strong engineering fundamentals, evidence that you have personally built solutions, and your ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
