Description
Under the close supervision of a supervisory official in a state department, agency, or institution, learns to perform front-line and behind the scenes customer and other support services involving the review, processing and issuance of agency documents; provides information to customers regarding department/agency programs and services; does other related duties as required.
Specific to the Position
All transporters of waste in New Jersey are required to register with our Department and obtain a decal for each piece of equipment used for such transportation. There are currently ~7,500 waste transporters and ~130,000 pieces of registered equipment (trucks, trailers, and containers). Staff are responsible for processing initial applications to become registered as a waste transporter, requests to register equipment and obtain a decal, and requests for updated or replacement cab cards which document which decal was assigned to what equipment. The work includes data entry as well as verifying information entered by customer through online service and comparing such information with what is listed on the motor vehicle registration.
Preferred Skill Set
Excellent communication and customer service skills; project management experience is a plus.
License
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
