Advisory Associate (India)

We are a Series A company of about 70 people, with teams in New York, Salt Lake City, Raleigh, Porto, Lisbon, and Manila. We were recently named top 11% on the 2026 Inc. 5000, No. 6 in Business Products and Services, which is a fair marker of the growth we have been in the middle of this year.

This is one of our first Strategic Advisory hires in India. You will work remotely alongside a team that already spans three countries, on engagements for clients across identity, fraud, financial crime, and cybersecurity.

About the role 

As an Associate you build the analysis that our client recommendations rest on. You take a defined question, choose how to answer it, gather the evidence, and produce work a Senior Associate or Manager can take straight into a client conversation. 

The work is real from the first week. Liminal engagements are short and dense: market studies, commercial due diligence, war games, buyer interview programs, and competitive assessments. You will be inside client material, platform data, and primary research rather than watching someone else handle it. 

You will not manage anyone in this role. What you will learn is how to own a question end to end, which is exactly what moves an Associate to Senior Associate here. 

 What you'll do 

• Build the analysis behind a workstream: market sizing, competitor comparisons, buyer research, and operating or financial models. 

• Run primary research. Draft interview guides and survey instruments, conduct buyer and expert interviews, and turn what you hear into findings rather than transcripts. 

• Work with Liminal platform data, test it against outside sources, and say so when the standard answer does not fit the client in front of you. 

• Build Excel models someone else can audit and PowerPoint pages a CEO can read in ten seconds. 

• Write the first version of your section with a point of view, not a data dump. 

• Own your own quality control. Check the numbers, cite the sources, and flag what you are unsure about before someone else finds it. 

• Support live client sessions: pre-reads, materials, notes, and following up on what was promised in the room. 

What success looks like 

First 30 days. You know the platform, our taxonomy, and how a Liminal engagement runs. You have contributed analysis on two active projects, and pages you built have gone into a client deliverable with light edits. 

By 90 days. You own defined analytical modules with a short brief and little supervision after that. You run interviews on your own. Your work gets edited for judgment, not for accuracy. 

By the end of the first year. You have worked across at least three engagement types, you interpret your own analysis rather than only producing it, and you can be handed an unclear question with a short deadline. You are ready to take a workstream. 

What we're looking for 

• One to three years in management or strategy consulting, investment banking, equity research, corporate strategy, market intelligence, or a comparable analytical role. 

• Evidence that you can structure an unfamiliar problem. We care more about how you break a question down than which logo you did it under. 

• Strong Excel and PowerPoint, plus comfort in Google Workspace.

• Comfort speaking with senior people. You will interview executives at banks, fintechs, and security vendors within your first few months. 

• Practical use of AI tools in your work, and a view on where they help and where they produce confident nonsense. 

• Real interest in identity, fraud, financial crime, cybersecurity, and the regulation around them. Prior domain experience is not required. Curiosity that survives the third week of reading is.
