You will have the opportunity to bring in new business and impact the success of Intelsat in a meaningful way. You will be a key member of our business development & sales team focusing on the Global Government segment of Intelsat's business in Europe. You will be charged with developing and executing plans to identify, develop, and close new and ongoing business opportunities. You will engage clients and partners, understand their needs, and drive the development of integrated and resilient satellite-based connectivity solutions for defense, intelligence, and national security customers in Europe.
In this role, you will be accountable for achieving new business targets with significant impact on Intelsat's financial success. You will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new strategic business opportunities, primarily for defense forces, their prime integrators, and select civilian government agencies in the European region. Your focus will be on both Eastern Europe and Central Europe. Your responsibilities will include both primary engagement with government personnel and support to regional Intelsat sales teams, ensuring the development of significant new business opportunities.
What you will do

  • Identify relevant Government programs through research, industry and relevant events, publications, and announcements.
  • Screen potential business deals by analyzing the competition, deal requirements, and financials, as well as by examining risks and potential opportunities. Understand partners' capabilities and market/customer positioning.
  • Lead the pursuit, capture, and proposal activities for new business opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with current and new customers (both government and industry).
  • Keep existing and potential customers up to date with the latest Intelsat products, services, proposals, and marketing materials. Work with clients to help uncover new or not-yet-realized opportunities and requirements.
  • Conduct frequent customer visits which require domestic and international travel.
  • Update knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Work with other internal support staff to prepare proposals, rough order magnitude estimates, and responses to customer requests for information.
  • Conduct routine execution and status reporting of business development and marketing functions for new opportunities in assigned markets.
  • Maintain a prospect database in Salesforce. Provide regular reports to leadership on your activities and their impacts to business unit plans and objectives.


Your required experience/skills

  • A University Degree in a technical or business-related field. Equivalent knowledge gained through experience may be considered.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience including 7 years in Business Development with a strong background with European defense or government programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading new business capture activities as well as experience in leading development of government proposals.
  • Experience in satellite communications or telecommunications sales.
  • Specific experience in high-value, high-revenue, complex military or government projects with senior management level relationships within nominated customer base.
  • Solid network of contacts with European government entities, commercial satellite companies, service providers, and/or others within the industry
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in multiple disciplines with a wide range of culture differences.
  • Initiative and self-motivation to work effectively and achieve organizational and client objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% to meet business needs.

  • Make recommendations based on thoughtful preparation and planning. Embrace initiative and innovation in support of strategic goals.

  • Government recognized security clearance.
  • Fluency in at least one European language, other than English.
