Hexcel is currently seeking an Advanced Sourcing and Supplier Quality Engineer for our Amesbury, MA location.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Coordinates supplier quality activity plan, including priorities, metrics, governance, escalation, and cross-site alignment.
- Prepares proposal for the risk-based supplier audit schedule; personally lead audits of critical, high-risk, or technically complex suppliers and ensure effective closure of findings. Support sustainability-related material and process changes by coordinating technical validation and performance equivalence.
- Assess and validate supplier manufacturing processes across direct-material categories, including fibers, films, chemicals, resin systems, and core or engineered core materials. Evaluate new suppliers, lead capability assessments, and define technical onboarding and qualification requirements.
- Lead advanced process capability and validation work, including SPC, Cp/Cpk, PFMEA, control plans, process equivalence, technical specifications, and control strategies.
- Partner with Engineering and R&T to define or improve material and process specifications and to evaluate supplier technical changes.
- Lead technical risk reviews for new product introduction, capacity expansion, material changes, and source changes.
- Identify single points of failure and partner with Sourcing to develop and execute multi-sourcing and supplier qualification roadmaps.
- Develops the Americas supplier risk management framework, including risk assessment requirements, mitigation plans, escalation criteria, and progress reporting.
- Lead supplier quality investigations and systemic corrective actions using structured methods such as 8D and A3; provide escalation support for high-impact SCARs.
- Develop regional SSQ tools and metrics, including management of change, foreign object debris prevention, supplier capability, and risk indicators.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
- At least 5+ years of relevant experience in aerospace or a comparable regulated manufacturing industry, including supplier quality, engineering, or technical sourcing.
- Demonstrated experience leading supplier audits, cross-functional risk reviews, and supplier improvement programs.
- Strong knowledge of process validation, technical specification development.
- Experience with composite materials and manufacturing processes strongly preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, ASQ CQE, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Ability to influence without direct authority, manage conflict, and communicate effectively with suppliers, sites, and leadership.
- Strong analytical, project leadership, negotiation, and executive communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and travel to supplier and Hexcel locations based on business need.
- Ability to support customer-facing audits and reviews by demonstrating supplier process robustness, capability, control plans, and qualification evidence.
Salary range for this position: $100K through $140K
