Honeywell is looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer to help build and evolve enterprise-scale platform services supporting Honeywell Forge and the Cognition platform.
This role is suited for a strong hands-on software engineer with 5+ years of experience developing modern applications, APIs, backend services, and distributed systems. The engineer will contribute across user experiences, APIs, microservices, data and messaging infrastructure and containerized deployments.
You will work closely with technical leads, architects, SRE, cybersecurity, QA, product, and other engineering teams to translate product and architecture requirements into secure, scalable, maintainable, and production-ready software. The ideal candidate is comfortable owning features and services from design and implementation through automated testing, deployment, integration, troubleshooting, and production readiness.
- Design and develop containerized microservices and distributed platform components.
- Implement well-defined service interfaces, APIs, contracts, and reusable abstractions.
- Develop event-driven services using RabbitMQ or similar messaging technologies and asynchronous processing patterns.
- Build services interacting with relational databases, time-series data stores, caching technologies, and file/object storage.
- Implement reliable service-to-service communication, error handling, retry, and integration patterns.
- Troubleshoot issues across distributed services and their dependencies.
- Develop software that can support deployment across Azure, GCP, Alibaba Cloud, and Cognition environments.
- Contribute to a common platform codebase while maintaining appropriate separation between common functionality and provider-specific implementations.
- Apply abstraction and adapter patterns where needed to minimize unnecessary cloud-provider dependencies.
- Develop software capable of operating in Cognition edge/appliance environments, including deployments with limited or restricted connectivity.
- Build platform components with appropriate consideration for CPU, memory, storage, and network utilization.
- Develop and support services deployed in Kubernetes-based environments.
- Contribute to installation, configuration, upgrade, and lifecycle-management capabilities for platform services.
- Follow engineering and security requirements associated with regulated, restricted-connectivity, or air-gapped deployments.
Engineering & Collaboration Expectations
- Take ownership of assigned features, services, and technical problems with limited supervision.
- Translate technical designs and requirements into high-quality working software.
- Participate constructively in architecture and design discussions.
- Provide thoughtful code reviews and help maintain engineering standards.
- Collaborate effectively with technical leads, architects, Product Owners, SRE, cybersecurity, QA, and application teams.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, maintainability concerns, and integration issues early.
- Diagnose technical issues spanning applications, services, messaging, databases, Kubernetes, and infrastructure.
- Contribute to technical investigations and proof-of-concepts for new technologies or platform capabilities.
Core Technical Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have solid hands-on experience with most of the following:
- Modern full-stack application development
- Web application architecture and modern frontend engineering
- RESTful APIs and backend service development
- .NET and C# development
- Microservices and distributed-system concepts
- Event-driven architecture and asynchronous processing
- RabbitMQ or comparable enterprise messaging technology
- SQL and relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL or comparable platforms
- Caching technologies such as Redis
- Data-processing and persistence concepts
- Authentication, authorization, and secure API design
- Automated unit, API, component, and integration testing
- Observability, structured logging, and production troubleshooting
- Git-based development, branching, pull-request, and release workflows
Strong hands-on experience with .NET/C# is particularly relevant to the existing platform-services landscape.
Experience Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional software-development experience, with substantial hands-on development responsibility.
- Strong experience building production-quality backend, full-stack, or platform software.
- Experience developing services using microservice, API-driven, and distributed-system architectures.
- Practical experience with containerized applications, automated testing, and CI/CD.
- Ability to independently design and deliver moderately complex software components and features.
- Experience troubleshooting applications and distributed services in development, integration, or production environments.
Preferred / Differentiating Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be valuable:
- Industrial IoT or connected-device platforms
- Edge computing or appliance-based software
- Hybrid-cloud or multi-cloud platforms
- Air-gapped or restricted-connectivity environments
- Large-scale telemetry or event-processing systems
