Leads complex aerospace software engineering projects across initiation, planning, execution, and completion. Coordinates cost, schedules, resources, risks, staffing, technical issues, escalations, work prioritization, and stakeholder communications. Drives software quotation estimates, project performance, process improvements, automation, and collaboration among technical leaders, project engineers, and program managers. Requires experience delivering engineering projects on time and within budget, with valued expertise in embedded software, aerospace hardware/software processes, defense projects, secure practices, and earned value management.

As an Advance Project Engineer, you will be the leader of a software team assessing and driving achievement of program specific performance for multiple parallel projects, working closely with Project Engineers from other groups and the Program Managers. You will partner with the technical resource managers, assist with staffing, and be the primary focal for program cost, schedule, and technical issue coordination and escalation. You will lead prioritization of work packages, design goals and objectives, and drive overall program performance. You will work with the team that brings the electronics hardware up and provides the low-level embedded software to the application team. Your work will extend to every product in the entire electronics world of aerospace by joining our Software Center of Excellence Organization. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead and manage complex engineering projects from initiation to completion

 • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders 

• Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation 

• Project execution, escalation and performance management 

• Project schedule and milestone development/management 

• Risk/opportunity development and management 

• Drive clear communications between Technical leaders 

• Optimize the team through procedural improvements and automations

• Driving SW quotation estimate efforts and approvals

• Facilitating various teams to solutions and agreement 

• Drive and improve project engineering practices for Software groups

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

 • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Science or Engineering. 

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience 

• 2 years experience in project engineering functions. 

• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget

 • Solid leadership and project management skills 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

• To conform to U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) 

 Travel, up to 10%, may be expected.
